Sleeping on Your Stomach Can Wreck Your Back (and Neck)
Many people collapse into bed and flop onto their stomachs without a second thought. It can feel natural, almost comforting, to spread out like a starfish after a long day. But if you’ve got back problems, this position is quietly waging war on your spine.
If you’re a chronic stomach sleeper, try easing yourself toward side or back sleeping. Support your spine with a pillow under your knees or between your thighs. It won’t feel natural at first, but your back will thank you in the long run.
The bottom line: stomach sleeping might feel cozy, but it’s a biomechanical betrayal. A few nights of mindful adjustment can spare you years of pain.
