✨ Real stories: “Raising a child with a disability comes with an added set of challenges. However, in my experience choosing to allow my son to nurse full term (allow him to have full control over the weaning timeline) minimized those challenges. The ability to nurse alleviated a lot of stress in his stressful life. Over time he was able to develop coping skills that did not involve ‘mama milk’ (our name for human milk) but they were developed at his own pace. Nursing to full term also allowed me time to develop parenting skills that did not involve nursing. I am grateful for each day of our 6 year breastfeeding journey.” — Annette 💚

Honoring Dr. Michel Odent (1930–2025)

We are deeply saddened by the passing of Dr. Michel Odent, a visionary who transformed how the world understands birth and breastfeeding.

✨ His gentle wisdom reminded us that mothers’ instincts matter, that birth can be respected, and that breastfeeding is part of a lifelong connection of love.

For decades, he worked closely with La Leche League, speaking at LLL gatherings and advising our LLLI Professional Advisory Board. He always affirmed the gentle continuum from birth to early breastfeeding.

Our hearts are with his family and loved ones. We are deeply grateful for their kindness in remembering La Leche League at this time, a gesture that beautifully reflects the values Dr. Odent dedicated his life to.

Testimony: “My son had a severe lip and tongue tie during his first 3 months. Pediatricians and hospital lactation consultants told me he was a ‘rough eater.’ I finally saw a pediatric dentist and we had it revised. The first time he really latched after the revision, I cried. Many late nights, both of us exhausted, fighting to feed. What I imagined as a bonding experience became the hardest part of being a new mom. I’m so grateful we could continue breastfeeding, now we’re 1 year strong.” Brianna

In Loving Memory of Martha Sears

With deep gratitude and sadness, La Leche League remembers Martha Sears, a nurse, mother of eight, La Leche League Leader, and co-author of trusted books on breastfeeding and baby care.

Martha shared her warmth and knowledge with countless mothers around the world. Her gentle presence and belief in mother-to-mother support helped many mothers feel confident and connected.

“Breastfeeding is not just about milk. It’s about connection.” – Martha Sears

We send our love to her family and to all who were touched by her life. Her legacy of love and support will always be part of La Leche League.

If Martha’s work or words touched you, we invite you to share a memory or message in the comments below.
