The foundational aspects of emotional agility address “going to” your thoughts, emotions, and values, and being open to what they have to tell you.

This entails asking questions like “How are you feeling?” and “How are your thoughts and emotions impacting you?”

With that base of self-knowledge, you can then graduate to skills that center on “going through” or moving on—the stage in which you apply the insights gained from your emotions.

It involves questions like “Which action would be values aligned?” and “What are some options for dealing with this emotion?”

I specialize in working with caregivers.

Whether you’re in a position of caregiving for loved ones or in an industry in which it’s your job to do so, caring for others can take an invisible toll on one’s health. It’s made even more challenging by the lack or absence of societal systems to support caregivers. Laura van Dernoot Lipsk...

When we're going through a difficult time, we're frequently told to just "keep on smiling."

But so-called negative emotions are normal. This is a fundamental fact. We are wired to feel negative at times.

Putting pressure on yourself or others to suppress "negative" emotions is unhelpful and unkind. Instead, ask yourself what you can learn from your emotion in the moment, and breathe into the knowledge that it will eventually pass.

Here is your reminder to be kind to yourself and invitation to practice it as often as you can. 💕

The Power of Being King to Yourself 🙏🏽

• More and more research is showing that self-compassion is a key to living a h life.
• Self-compassion is a source of strength and resilience

The 3 Elements of Self-Compassion:
1️⃣ Self Kindness: we are as caring towards ourselves as we are to others
2️⃣ Recognizing Our Common Humanity: When we understand that we are not alone in our pain through a moment of connection with others and that it is a part of the shared human experience
3️⃣ Mindfulness: Being open to the reality of the present moment [yes, you are here], acknowledging our suffering without exaggerating it

So true.

So true.

As much as we want to, we cannot control every situation.

There is no value in struggling to deny or suppress feelings of anxiety, anger, hopelessness, or grief. This only makes us feel worse.

By showing up to a difficult situation and accepting it, we free ourselves to move beyond it. Acceptance is the prerequisite for positive change.

Your feelings have important messages for you. Once you stop ignoring them, you can own them, move through them, and feel a sense of ease.

Looking forward to this!
