Happy CRNA Week 2026! Today, we recognize CPT Julie Donahue Pearson, PhD, CRNA, FAANA, a leader whose career embodies the bridge between military excellence and clinical mastery.
Captain Pearson retired as an O-6 after 28 dedicated years in the U.S. Navy, split equally between 14 years of Active Duty and 14 years as a drilling Reservist. Her military journey provided the bedrock for a career defined by high-stakes decision-making and a commitment to education.

🎖️Her Service & Legacy:
The Fundamentals: “Training and practice as a military CRNA provided me with the fundamentals in practice and decision-making to function in a wide range of settings in both military and civilian health care systems.”
Proudest Moments: During her time as Assistant Program Director at Georgetown University (1997-2005), Julie had the honor of teaching Active Duty SRNAs during their didactic training, shaping the next generation of military anesthesia providers.
Community: Beyond the rank, Julie cherishes the lifelong bonds formed in the Navy Nurse Corps, recently reuniting with colleagues at the Navy CRNA reunion in Nashville.
📍 Today’s Mission:
Julie continues to give back to the profession as an Adjunct Faculty member at Texas Christian University, where she advises and teaches the next generation of CRNAs remotely.
Please join us in thanking Captain Julie Donahue Pearson for her incredible service to our country and her continued dedication to the anesthesia profession! 🇺🇸💉

Happy from the Peer Assistance and Wellness Committee! Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) affects 10% of the population, with 4 out of 5 being women. SAD has been linked to lower serotonin and higher melatonin levels related to less sunlight. Maximizing natural light, regular exercise, stress management, and Vitamin D supplements are a few ways to improve symptoms of SAD.

As the year winds down, we’re reminded that balance is everything, in anesthesia and in life.

Just like propofol brings calm and steadiness to patients, may this holiday season bring you peace, rest, and plenty of joy.
You’ve given your all to caring for others, now it’s your turn to recharge. 💙
