Happy International Women’s Day to all of the hard-working women out there!

We are especially proud to honor the courageous women who carved their own paths in the biopharma industry!

According to the National Institute for Health, “Policies that encourage the inclusion of women in research originated during the women’s health movement, which emerged as part of the women’s movement.” Up to the 1970s, “few women worked in either medicine or science, and many women believed that women’s health needs were a low priority in the scientific and medical fields.”

Today, Zealic is honoring Rare Disease Day! Rare Disease Day is meant to unite everyone for the common cause of raising awareness and providing support for those dealing with rare diseases.

According to the FDA, any disease that affects 200,000 people or less is considered a rare disease. In the grand scheme of things, this may seem like a small portion of the population, but the reality is that there are approximately 7,000 different rare diseases, per the NIH. In fact, there are roughly 30 million people with rare diseases in the United States and 300 million people with rare diseases worldwide. Those who have a rare disease are more susceptible to misdiagnosis, less treatment, and isolation from help. It is for this reason that Zealic is inspired to do what we do and support patients with rare diseases. Learn more about rare diseases and how you can help below!
