Producing breastmilk takes up about 30% of the body’s energy. Your brain, for comparison, only uses about 20%.
You’re not doing nothing.
This is why you’re so tired at the end of the day.
This is why you’re so hungry and so thirsty.
So, if all you did was feed your baby today, don’t let your mind convince you that you didn’t do enough. You did enough. You did amazing. 🤱

My sister Maria lost her babies in October. She chose to share her story of her loss of my twin nieces in retaliation to an article in The Guardian by a group called MYA claiming pregnant tissue looks like white mush. We know they were girls because of cell free dna testing done a week before they died. We know their gestational age because they are dated by an ultrasound by a mfm. They look good because I gave her saline to float them in so she could see them as they are meant to look. These twins are not models, not a political statement and not an experiment. They are my nieces. They are babies a mother and father and siblings and grandparents, uncles, aunts and cousins loved and wanted. THIS is what pregnancy looks like at 8 weeks post conception.

It is totally insulting to the women throughout time who have lost babies first trimester and know what they see to claim you’ll get white mush. We can tell a baby’s chromosomal gender and blood type at 9 weeks pregnant. That’s 7 weeks post conception. MYA needs to do better for women. Anyone expecting to expell white mush during a first trimester end of pregnancy is misinformed.
