🧬 “Having more than one cancer could signal inherited genetic risk.” — Jeffrey Shevach, M.D.

1 in 12 patients with multiple cancers carry a mutation in a cancer risk gene, according to a new study from researchers at Duke Health.

This discovery could help communities access better screening, earlier treatment, and protect future generations.

A breakthrough at Duke Health sees new potential to save more young lives.💙

A procedure first pioneered at Duke is applicable to more children with a wider range of heart conditions. That’s according to new research on partial heart transplant published in JAMA. The study includes the case of one child who had to stop taking anti-rejection meds. His valve kept growing strong. It’s a sign of hope and a glimpse into a possible future with fewer medications and more possibilities.

This is more than a medical advancement. It’s a movement forward in pediatric heart care.

The Teddy Bear Clinic at Duke Primary Care Pediatrics at Cary was a heartwarming celebration of community health and safety! From injury prevention to early wellness care, Duke Health team members came together to support healthier futures for our youngest neighbors.
