Ugh. When it rains, it pours. And it’s a downpour today. We pulled this sweet girl, that I named Sugar, week before last. Vet appt today showed an OLD dislocated elbow on front leg that cannot just be fixed now. If that’s not bad enough, both hips are not even in the sockets. This is probably congenital and all of the puppies someone let her have will probably have the same issue. So, where do we start?? She could really use a joint replacement on the elbow but those are not commonly done and not many vets do them. Very expensive, too. Dr. Lammers is going to think on it but will probably try to fuse the elbow to, at least, giver her a stiff leg to put weight on without pain. We will eventually have to do a total FHO on both hips in the future, one at a time. She became an SCF lifer today since this could take a very long time and we still may have to amputate the front leg if this doesn’t work. She is an absolute doll who has taken up her home in the garage suits with Waldo, Yahtzee, Jolene and the farm dogs. I lose hope in people more and more each day the longer I run a rescue…
