Rosemary has so many uses; from medicinal, to culinary, to magickal! It should be noted that excess use of rosemary should be avoided by pregnant women.
This is a very aromatic, restorative herb that relaxes spasms, relieves pain, and increases perspiration rate. It stimulates the liver and bladder, plus improves digestion and circulation. Rosemary aids with nervous tension and the issues that result such as headaches, depression and exhaustion. Externally, it can be used for rheumatism, arthritis, muscular injuries, dandruff, and hair loss.
I use rosemary frequently when cooking. It can be used to flavor means, soups, veggies, and can be brewed for tea. Ground or powdered rosemary can be added to cookies and jams. I like to make rosemary biscuits. The flowers can be added to salads. Add a touch of magick when grilling meats or veggies by tying a few springs of rosemary together, dip in olive oil and use it as a basting brush
Magickally, rosemary is an herb that has powerful cleansing vibrations and can be smoldered to banish negative energy. Smelling the smoke of smoldering rosemary is done to gain knowledge or find the answer to a question. It can aid with memory and when used while bathing, it is said to preserve youthfulness. Placed under the pillow, rosemary aids with sleep, is used in love incense, and because of its curative properties, rosemary can be used in healing mixtures or used to stuff a healing poppet. I like to make an infusion using rosemary and sage to wash walls and woodwork to purify the house. It is also an acceptable substitution for frankincense.
Considered middle note, the wonderful herbal scent of rosemary oil blends well with other herbal scents such as basil, oregano, and thyme. Citrus scents to try are bergamot, grapefruit, lemon or tangerine. Want to go spicy? Try cinnamon or black pepper. Experiment with florals like geranium, lavender, or jasmine. Don’t you just love playing and experimenting with essential oils?
