At Waltonwood Lead Mine, learning and meaningful conversation are part of every day!

Today, our Assisted Living residents explored history together through a wonderful new program called “History by Mail”. Residents read aloud, examined replica historical documents, and shared memories and perspectives as they discussed fascinating moments in history. Each month brings a new collection of documents to discover and explore together.

So far, topics have included Annie Oakley, Jackie Robinson, and the Civil Rights Movement. Our residents especially enjoy the hands-on experience of holding pieces of history while engaging in thoughtful and lively conversations with one another.

There’s no age limit on curiosity, and it’s never too late to keep learning, reminiscing, and connecting through shared experiences!

Step right up for Camp Waltonwood at Waltonwood Lead Mine! Join us on Saturday, August 8th from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. for an afternoon full of carnival fun for the whole family. Enjoy games, prizes, a magic show, face painting, delicious fair-style food, and sweet treats under the big top!

There’s nothing sweeter than sunshine, smiles, and a trip to NC State Howling Cow Ice Cream!

Our residents enjoyed a beautiful day out together, soaking up the warm weather and treating themselves to some delicious ice cream at the local creamery. From classic favorites to adventurous flavors, the outing was filled with laughter, conversation, and plenty of happy memories made along the way.

Nothing brings people together quite like great food, live music, and a beautiful evening in the courtyard!

Our Bluegrass & BBQ event at Waltonwood Lead Mine was filled with laughter, camaraderie, and wonderful memories shared between residents, families, and future residents. Our guests and residents enjoyed live bluegrass music while our culinary team served up an incredible menu featuring espresso-braised pulled pork, grilled shrimp skewers, and all the classic BBQ side dishes that made the evening feel like a true Southern gathering.

Join us for a relaxed evening of great food, music, and community at Waltonwood Lead Mine!

We’re hosting a special BBQ & Bluegrass event on Tuesday, May 12th from 5:00–7:00 p.m. in our courtyard. Residents, families, and prospective residents are all welcome to enjoy a delicious chef-prepared BBQ dinner paired with live bluegrass entertainment. It’s the perfect way to kick back, connect, and soak in a beautiful spring evening together!

Our community came together to celebrate Easter with a beautiful and delicious luncheon that was truly a feast for the senses!

Our Residents enjoyed a thoughtfully curated menu featuring a crisp Caesar salad, perfectly prepared orange blossom salmon, and tender, savory prime rib. Every dish was crafted with care to make the holiday feel extra special. And of course, no Easter celebration would be complete without a little sweetness! Our talented pastry chefs delighted everyone with stunning, house-made recreations of classic Easter treats, including Cadbury eggs, Peeps, and traditional hot cross buns.

We are thrilled to introduce our very first Associate of the Month at Waltonwood Lead Mine; Aniyah!

Aniyah has been a valued member of our team for the past five months as a server, bringing with her two years of experience and a genuine passion for working with seniors. Her love for older adults shines through in everything she does. Whether she’s sharing a laugh, offering a kind word, or simply taking the time to connect, Aniyah has a special way of brightening each resident’s day.

She truly enjoys getting to know our residents, listening to their stories, and creating meaningful moments that make them feel seen, heard, and celebrated. One of her favorite memories at Waltonwood was the opportunity to express her creativity and craft a signature mocktail for a resident’s birthday. This was an experience that brought so much joy not only to the resident, but to their family as well.

Outside of work, Aniyah is incredibly creative and enjoys drawing and painting, especially in realism and cartoons. She’s also proud to share that she knows a bit of ASL!

Aniyah, thank you for the heart, positivity, and dedication you bring to our community each day. We are so lucky to have you as part of the Waltonwood family!

What an incredible day at Waltonwood Lead Mine as we hosted our very first Taste of Waltonwood, an annual event at Waltonwood Senior Living, that brings together professionals, prospective residents, and our current residents for a stunning showcase of culinary excellence.

Our talented culinary and pastry team, led by our Executive Chef, Rob, truly outdid themselves with a beautifully curated menu featuring highlights like lobster rolls on house-made brioche, zucchini blossoms with blue crab, espresso BBQ brisket, and ricotta toast with truffle honey, all perfectly complemented by an array of decadent house-made desserts.

We loved the opportunity to enjoy great food, meet new faces, and spend time together in our beautiful community. We were truly excited to host this special event and share a taste of what makes Waltonwood so unique.

What a night to remember at Waltonwood Lead Mine!

Our Grand Opening celebration was nothing short of extraordinary. From the moment guests walked through our doors, the energy was warm, joyful, and filled with excitement.
Our culinary team truly outdid themselves with a stunning display of beautifully crafted food, decadent desserts, and thoughtfully curated refreshments.

We were honored to welcome so many wonderful guests from future residents, families, professional partners, and community leaders that took the time to tour, connect, and celebrate alongside us. Seeing our spaces filled with laughter, conversation, and new friendships forming was incredibly special.

Most of all, we are so proud of the dedicated team here at Waltonwood Lead Mine. Their passion, heart, and commitment to excellence brought this vision to life and made the evening seamless and memorable for everyone in attendance.

Thank you to all who joined us to mark the beginning of something truly special. This is just the start, and we cannot wait to continue building meaningful relationships and creating a community where seniors thrive.
