Gupta Psychiatry

Gupta Psychiatry GPW Psychiatry s a sanctuary for healing, blending warmth and expertise for unique mental health journeys.

Led by professionals, we're dedicated to holistic well-being, redefining care one patient at a time. I decided to follow in my mother's foot steps and become a psychiatrist during medical school. An experience someone I knew closelywent through led me to believe that psychiatry would be a challenging and gratifying field to practice. Helping someone during a difficult time in their life is very rewarding. . . All aspects of psychiatry are of interest to me, from an average person with anxiety to more complicated cases such as schizophrenia. In addition to medication management, I encourage most of my patients to participate in individual therapy. . . You're welcome to browse this website and learn more about my academic background and credentials. I very much look forward to meeting you and working together.

“Why does my ADHD medication feel like it’s not working?”
This is one of the most common questions adults with ADHD ask and the answer isn’t always about tolerance or dosage.

👉 Sometimes it’s sleep.
👉 Sometimes it’s caffeine or ma*****na.
👉 Sometimes it’s anxiety, depression, or even your environment.

Your medication may still be doing its job but other factors could be getting in the way.

In this blog, we break down 8 reasons your ADHD meds might feel less effective and what you can do about it.

GPW Heat Survival Tips

💧 Personal Cooling Tips
• Drink cold water throughout the day — stay ahead of dehydration.
• Dab a damp paper towel or cloth on your neck, wrists, or forehead.
• Use a spray bottle to mist your face and arms for quick relief.
• Apply a cold pack (wrapped in a paper towel) to pulse points like the neck and ankles.

👕 Dress Smart
• Choose lightweight, breathable fabrics like cotton or linen.
• Wear light-colored, loose-fitting clothes to stay cooler.
• If appropriate, adjust layers or attire to match the weather.

🌬️ Fans & Air Circulation
• Use a desk fan or personal fan at your workstation.
• Create a cooling breeze by placing a cold water bottle or cup of ice in front of the fan.
• Keep electronics off when not in use — they produce extra heat.

🪟 Help the AC Work Smarter, Not Harder
• Close blinds or curtains to block direct sun.
• Avoid opening doors and windows during peak heat hours.
• Keep air vents clear and avoid setting the thermostat too low.
A lower setting doesn’t cool faster — it just strains the system.

🧍‍♂️ Movement & Breaks
• Take breaks in cooler areas when needed to reset.
• Avoid excessive movement in hot spaces.
• If feeling overheated, step into a shaded or ventilated area to cool down.

📝 If you feel dizzy, lightheaded, or faint — notify a team member and take a break immediately.

Let’s keep our workspace and homes - cool, safe, and respectful for everyone.

🔥 Anger might be anxiety in disguise.
Dr. Mona Gupta from GPW Psychiatry breaks down treatment options for persistent anxiety-driven anger.

🧠 Effective support can include:
✔️ CBT to break negative thought-emotion loops
✔️ Mindfulness to create space between trigger & reaction
✔️ Medications like SSRIs or beta blockers
✔️ Anger management—not to suppress, but to understand

💬 Instead of asking “Why are they so angry?”
Try: “What might they be anxious about?”

That shift in perspective can change everything.

You’re not out of control. You just haven’t found the right tools yet.

Happy Mother’s Day from all of us at GPW Psychiatry!

Today, we honor the love, strength, and dedication of mothers everywhere. Whether you’re a mom, a caregiver, or someone who nurtures others with compassion—you make a difference every day.

We also want to acknowledge that Mother’s Day can be emotionally complex. If today brings up difficult feelings, please know it’s okay to feel them. Your mental health matters, and you are not alone.

Let’s celebrate moms—and remember to care for ourselves and one another with empathy and grace.

Thank you, moms, for all that you do.
