Today marks a significant milestone for our very own Executive VP and CEO Greg Griggs as he celebrates 20 years of outstanding work, innovation, and effort on behalf of and in service to Family Physicians in North Carolina!
We can all agree that over the last two decades, Greg has led the NCAFP with wisdom, tenacity, and integrity. 20 years is no small feat - and neither is the impact he has made during that time. Enjoy this heartfelt tribute video from several of Greg’s colleagues and friends who know him best!

On Monday, NCAFP member and past president Dr. Shannon Dowler appeared on The Daily (from The New York Times) with host Natalie Kitroeff to discuss the impact of Medicaid reductions on rural North Carolinians. Dr. Dowler said, “I have practiced in a variety of settings all focused on underserved care, from local health departments to the free clinic, which is where I do most of my clinical time now.” That experience with underserved patients gives Dr. Dowler insight into how the loss of Medicaid coverage will affect rural patients: “There are going to be really challenging aspects,” she says.

Had a great few days on Capitol Hill earlier this week advocating for family physicians and their patients. Great meetings with Rep. Murphy, Rep. Moore, Rep. Adams, and Rep. Foxx, as well as healthcare staff from many of the others in NC's Congressional delegations.

Thank you to Rep. Dr. Tim Reeder, Rep. Dr. Grant Campbell, and Rep. A. Reece Pyrtle for meeting with Dr. Bailey Sanford and Hannah Rayala! They are both completing the NCAFP policy and leadership elective, and so a visit to the NC General Assembly to meet these representatives and learn about their own advocacy journeys is exactly what they needed. It was a great day at the NCGA!
