A Look at Self-Guided In-Home Health Tests
Taking Your Health Into Your Hands
Every day, more people are taking charge of their own health, inspired by social media and podcasts that highlight health awareness and alternative methods and treatments. This trend is driving a growing interest in self-guided lab testing kits, which give individuals like you the power to monitor your health on
your own terms.

Thanks to today’s digital age, we all now have access to a wide range of self-guided labs that can pinpoint health markers that may not be included in standard blood tests. And what’s more, access to these tests is as easy as ordering them through my pharmacy. Let me give you more insight.

What is self-guided lab work?
Simply answered, self-guided blood, saliva, or urine lab work means you can choose the tests for yourself without the need for a prescription. These tests can provide valuable insights into various aspects of health, including nutrient levels, hormone balance, brain health, inflammation markers, methylation processes within your body, and more. By analyzing these markers, you can gain a deeper understanding of your overall health status and identify potential areas for improvement.

Why should you consider this option? Self-guided lab work allows you to take a proactive approach to your health by monitoring changes in your health markers over time. By getting a baseline and tracking these markers regularly, you can identify trends and make informed decisions about your lifestyle, diet, and supplementation to optimize your health.

Another benefit of self-guided health labs is that these tests are easy and convenient. Once you have the kit, you simply take the test in the comfort of your home and send it through the mail. The specimen for the test is either a small drop of blood from your finger, a cheek swab, a small vial of urine, or a strand of your hair.

How do you choose the right test for you?
With so many options, it can be confusing. When you order our self-guided health labs, we start by discussing your concerns and any health conditions you might already have. We also inquire about what tests you’ve done before and figure out which new tests will complement those.

We offer the following self-guided health test types:
• Menopause: not only looks at your hormone levels but also tests your vitamin D and thyroid function

• Brain health, neurotransmitters, and BDNF (brain-derived neurotrophic factor), a protein that supports the growth, survival, and function of brain cells, playing a key role in sleep, learning, and memory

• Food sensitivity

• Parasites

• Hormones: tests male and female s*x hormones

• Liver health as it relates to diabetes and/or obesity

• Heavy metals

• GI balance and function assay

• Organic Acid Test: evaluates over seventy urinary metabolites that can be useful for discovering underlying causes of chronic illness

• Mycotoxins: lets you know if you have been in contact with certain mold species from your home, work, vehicles, and/or food.

• Dutch Test: a complete s*x hormone level panel that also includes cortisol, adrenal, and melatonin (as well as their metabolites) and the Organic Acid Test.

• Wellness Genetic Test: looks at your genes, including MTHFR, MTRR, COMT, MAO, PEMT, and FUT2.

• Comprehensive panel through Labcorp.

Are these tests reliable?
The tests I carry at my pharmacy are reliable and are used commonly throughout the United States by many types of healthcare providers. I only carry well-vetted brands with national recognition. In short, I’ve taken the guesswork out of it for you. We carry tests from ZRT, 5Strands, MosiacDX, DNARX, Doctor’s Data, and Diagnostic Solutions. All are nationally recognized.

How much do these tests cost?
Depending on the test, they range from $149 to $350. If purchased through my pharmacy, all tests include an analysis of your results and a consultation to formulate a plan to get you feeling like your old self once again. If you are someone who has limitations because you either don’t have insurance or your insurance has restrictions on the type of tests they will cover, these self-guided lab work tests could be the answer you’re looking for.

How do you get your test results, and what do you do with them?
When you order from my pharmacy, your results will come back to us, and you’ll be sent a link to make an appointment to discuss them. You’ll also receive a copy of your results, which you can share with your provider and keep for your own records.

If you or someone you love has a health condition, I highly recommend exploring this option. With self-guided health labs, you are able to examine the effects of your current health condition and get a snapshot of any overlooked underlying conditions, allowing you to take a proactive approach on your journey to wellness and healing.

As a pharmacist and health coach, I see many people who are seeking quick fixes and miracle solutions to improve health and well-being. I have found that the allure of a miracle supplement or herb that promises to boost your immune system, enhance your mood, or help you lose weight can be tempting. However, as I’ve experienced with maintaining my own health, relying solely on supplements to improve health is not the most effective approach. Supplements and herbs definitely have their place in helping the body, but we can’t overlook other basic, simple fundamentals that not only create good habits but also build a solid foundation for maintaining health, including gut health, hydration, sleep, exercise, and stress management.

As you know, the food you eat will play a crucial role in maintaining overall health and well-being. A balanced diet rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins provides essential nutrients that support various bodily functions. Instead of depending on a single supplement or on quick food, such as a meal replacement, to meet all your nutritional needs, you need to prioritize consuming a variety of nutrient-dense foods to ensure you get the vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants your body requires.

Nutrition and Supplement Basics
Omega-3 fatty acids are essential fats that play a crucial role in brain function, heart health, and inflammation regulation. Including sources of omega-3s, such as fatty fish, flaxseeds, and walnuts, in your diet can help reduce the risk of chronic diseases and support cognitive function.

Amino acids are the building blocks of proteins and play a vital role in numerous physiological processes. Essential amino acids (not to be mistaken for nonessential) cannot be produced by the body and must be obtained through diet. Including high-quality protein sources, such as lean meats, fish, eggs, and legumes, in your meals can help ensure you meet your amino acid requirements and support muscle growth, repair, mental wellness, and overall health.

Vitamin D3 and magnesium are two vital nutrients that are deficient in a large portion of the population. Whether it be poor diet, quality of food, or lifestyle factors, many studies that are being done on aging, brain and cognitive health, developmental health, pain, sleep, and heart health are showing a clear deficiency in these nutrients.

Quality hydration is often overlooked but is essential for maintaining optimal bodily function. Drinking an adequate amount of water throughout the day helps regulate body temperature, transport nutrients, and flush out toxins. Avoiding sugary beverages and opting for water with a splash of lemon or lime or a few slices of cucumber can improve energy levels, lubricate your joints, ease the discomfort of dry skin, help your bowels move more freely, and improve your cognitive function.

Your gut health is paramount to your overall well-being. A healthy gut microbiome is essential for proper digestion, nutrient absorption, and immune function. Consuming probiotic-rich foods like yogurt, kefir, and sauerkraut as well as fiber-rich fruits and vegetables can promote a diverse and balanced gut.

Supplements can and do expire. Check the expiration dates of the supplements you have stored (and sometimes ignored) on your shelves. You may need to replace them.

Lifestyle Basics
Adequate rest allows the body to repair and regenerate, supports immune function, and helps regulate mood and stress levels. Establish a “self-care” bedtime routine by creating a comfortable sleep environment and turning off electronic devices and televisions. This can dramatically improve your health and well-being. A good night’s sleep can also help to balance hormones and improve your ability to think and problem solve.

Regular exercise is a cornerstone of a healthy lifestyle. Physical activity not only helps maintain a healthy weight and strengthen muscles and bones but also improves mood and reduces stress. Incorporating a mix of cardiovascular, strength training, and flexibility exercises into our routine can provide a wide range of health benefits. Exercise does not have to be rigorous to be effective. A stroll through the neighborhood every day has wonderful benefits on your psyche and your body.

Advantages to grounding for health. Fusion Speciality PharmacyAnother remedy I not only practice but also highly recommend is called grounding, connecting with the earth’s natural energy. Walking or placing your bare feet on grass, soil, or sand has been associated with various health benefits, including reduced inflammation, improved sleep, and enhanced mood. If you haven’t tried grounding, you absolutely must. Pay attention to how your body feels after just a few minutes of connecting with the ground. The best part is that this remedy is entirely free. If you’re looking to reboot your health routine or develop a new one, try keeping it simple…start with the basics.

Kick the Sick With the Fusion Immune Pack
How many times have you felt a little tickle in the back of your throat and suddenly become worried that it was too late to do much of anything to ward off the onset of a cold or the flu? We’ve all felt this way. Boosting your immune system at the first sign of feeling ill is crucial for maintaining good health and preventing the spread and/or the duration of an illness.

Here are some key benefits of proactively boosting your immune system at the first sign of feeling ill:
Faster recovery. By activating your immune response, you can speed up the recovery process and reduce the time spent feeling unwell.
Reduced severity of symptoms. By bolstering your body’s natural defense mechanisms, you can minimize the impact of viruses or bacteria, leading to milder symptoms and a more comfortable recovery.
Prevention of complications. Certain illnesses can lead to complications, especially in individuals with weakened immune systems. By boosting your immune system at the first sign of feeling ill, you may be able to reduce the risk of complications, such as secondary infections or a prolonged illness.
Here are some practical steps you can take at the first sign of feeling ill:
Get adequate rest. Get enough sleepand rest when you start feeling ill. Resting allows your body to divert energy towards fighting off the infection.
Stay hydrated. Drink plenty of fluids, such as water, herbal tea, or clear broths, to keep your body hydrated. Hydration helps flush out toxins and supports immune function.
Eat nutrient-rich food. Consume a balanced diet that includes fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins, and healthy fats. These provide essential vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants that support immune function.
Take immune-boosting supplements. Consult with a healthcare professional about immune-boosting supplements, such as vitamin C, vitamin D, vitamin A, zinc, NAC, Viracid, or probiotics. These supplements can help support your immune system during illness. See our Fusion Immune supplement pack here.
Supplements Instead of Over-the-Counter Medications
Before you reach for over-the-counter medications that may seem like they work well by masking the symptoms but do nothing to boost your immune system, let’s explore the benefits of taking supplements. The right supplements not only can enhance your immune system but may also help alleviate symptoms without the side-effects of many over-the-counter medications.

Zinc helps support the immune system by promoting the production and activity of immune cells while inhibiting the replication of certain viruses. It can also help reduce the severity and duration of cold symptoms.

Vitamin A is a fat-soluble vitamin that is essential for the health of mucous membranes, including those in the respiratory system. It helps keep the respiratory tract moist and functioning properly, reducing the risk of respiratory infections.

Vitamin D, the sunshine vitamin, is a fat-soluble vitamin that is beneficial for preventing and managing colds and flu. Vitamin D also helps regulate the immune system and promotes the production and activity of immune cells. It can help reduce the risk of respiratory infections and the severity of symptoms.

NAC (N-acetylcysteine) is a supple-ment that contains an amino acid called cysteine, which has antioxidant and mucolytic properties. NAC helps thin and loosen mucus, making it easier to cough up and clear from the respiratory tract. This can help relieve congestion and improve breathing. NAC also helps in protecting cells from damage caused by free radicals. It helps reduce inflammation in the respiratory tract and supports immune function.

Viracid is a combination of nutrients and botanicals that are specifically formulated to support immune function and provide relief from cold and flu symptoms. Simply put, it packs a punch to viruses while supporting your immune system.

In my pharmacy, we created the Fusion Immune Pack, which contains all of the supplements listed above in the dosage you will need to help conquer your cold or flu. They provide immune boosting properties for the short term so that you can avoid the expense of buying multiple bottles of many kinds of supplements. It’s important to note that while these supplements may have benefits for colds and flu, they should be used as part of a comprehensive approach to managing illness. It’s always recommended that you consult with a healthcare professional before starting any new supplements, especially if you have any underlying health conditions or are taking prescribed or over-the-counter medications. Boosting your immune system is not a guarantee against getting sick, but it can significantly improve your body’s ability to fight off infections and minimize their impact. If your symptoms worsen or persist, it is essential to seek medical advice from a healthcare professional.

For those of you who may be taking antidepressants and for those who aren’t but may be feeling the “blues,” let’s talk about food! Protein is an essential macronutrient that plays a crucial role in various physiological processes in the body. One of its important functions is the synthesis of neurotransmitters, including serotonin and dopamine. The link between protein and serotonin lies in the amino acid tryptophan. Tryptophan is an “essential amino acid,” which means it cannot be produced by the body and must be made through dietary sources. It is a precursor to serotonin, converted into serotonin in the brain.

Whole food, plant-based diets can provide an abundant source of protein while also promoting serotonin production. Plant-based protein sources, such as legumes, tofu, tempeh, quinoa, and nuts, are not only rich in protein but also contain tryptophan. By consuming these plant-based protein sources, individuals can ensure an adequate intake of tryptophan that can then be converted into serotonin. Foods high in B vitamins, such as leafy greens, whole grains, and legumes, are important for the synthesis of serotonin. Additionally, plant-based diets are often high in antioxidants, which can protect the brain from oxidative stress and promote optimal serotonin function.

Here are examples of foods that help support and boost serotonin production in the body naturally:

• Tryptophan-rich foods: Foods rich in tryptophan include turkey, chicken, eggs, cheese, tofu, nuts, seeds, and legumes. Consuming these foods can provide the building blocks necessary for serotonin synthesis.

• Complex carbohydrates: Eating foods that are high in complex carbohydrates can help increase serotonin levels. Good sources of complex carbohydrates include unprocessed whole grains, fruits, vegetables, and legumes.

• Omega-3 fatty acids: Omega-3 fatty acids are essential fats that play a role in brain health and neurotransmitter function. They have been found to increase serotonin receptor activity and promote serotonin release. Foods rich in omega-3 fatty acids include fatty fish (such as salmon, mackerel, herring, and sardines), walnuts, flaxseeds, and chia seeds. When it comes to fish, do your best to purchase wild-caught varieties. While farm-raised fish still have many nutrient properties, many fish species are raised in large tanks and could be treated with antibiotics and antifungal medications, causing an imbalance in your own physiology.

• Vitamin B6: When I see patients currently taking antidepressants, as well as patients who are not on medication but are concerned because they generally feel “blue,” I find that there is a vitamin B6 deficiency. Vitamin B6 is involved in the conversion of tryptophan into serotonin. Foods rich in vitamin B6 include poultry, fish, bananas, potatoes, chickpeas, and sunflower seeds.

• Magnesium: If you’ve been following my articles, you know how I feel about the miracle of magnesium! Magnesium is a mineral that plays a role in serotonin production and function. Foods rich in magnesium include leafy green vegetables, nuts, seeds, whole grains, and legumes. Consuming these foods can help ensure adequate magnesium levels for serotonin synthesis.
It’s important to note that while foods can support serotonin production, they may not have an immediate or dramatic effect on mood. Serotonin synthesis is a complex process influenced by various factors, such as illness, stress, lifestyle, and even injury. Dietary changes alone may not be sufficient to address serotonin imbalances or mental health conditions, but my goal in providing this information is to give you the idea to look at your mental health circularly.

If you are experiencing persistent mood or mental health issues, consult with your healthcare provider for a comprehensive evaluation and appropriate treatment.

Serotonin, Your Feel Good Drug, Naturally
By Koby Taylor, PharmD

Serotonin
I talk with a lot of patients who come through my pharmacy asking questions about their prescriptions and seeking advice about nutrition, amino acids, and hormone balancing. Given that we are in our winter months, I thought an article about a subject that is common this time of year would be appropriate. So, let’s talk about depression and serotonin. What is serotonin? Serotonin is a neurotransmitter that acts as a hormone and is naturally produced in the brain stem and your intestinal mucosa. In medical terminology, you may know it as 5-hydroxytryptamine. You may have also come across the phrase “the feel good drug” in reference to serotonin. Why is serotonin important? Serotonin is important for a multitude of reasons. It helps in governing your mood, memory, behavior, gastrointestinal balance, digestion, sleep, bone health, blood clotting, and s*xual function, among other things.

Treating Depression with Serotonin (SSRI) Medications
Interestingly, you or someone you know may have taken a SSRI antidepressant medication for chronic pain. Typically, this course of treatment may be temporary. Someone in chronic pain may not be producing enough serotonin, so blocking the body’s reabsorption process may help promote healing and overall well-being by allowing the patient to sleep better, digest food better, and stay positive.

Can you be tested for neurotransmitters? The short answer is yes. At my pharmacy, we offer a comprehensive test through ZRT Laboratory. Being tested is a simple process and does not require an office visit to complete. You will take the kit home and follow the instructions; it’s that easy. I encourage you to Google this test and be sure to look at all the components the test includes. It could furnish you and your healthcare provider with extra beneficial information.

Investigating the Serotonin Map/Pathway
Our bodies are complex! Within that complexity, we have to consider that more than one element travels along the same pathway and that everything works together to create and maintain what we call homeostasis, a harmonious balance.

When we rely too heavily on a particular medication or supplement, we can disrupt this natural harmonious balance, and in a sense, block a pathway. For example, dopamine, another important neurotransmitter, interacts with serotonin receptors. This interaction is very important for maintaining a balance between the two neurotransmitters and ensuring balanced cognitive function. However, if a drug or supplement solely targets serotonin receptors without considering the interaction with dopamine, it may lead to an imbalance and potentially have negative effects on cognition and mood.

09/10/2024

Cravings are often seen as a negative aspect in our lives, associated with unhealthy eating habits and a lack of self-control. However, what if I told you that cravings could actually be signs of mineral and amino acid deficiencies in our bodies? In this article, we will explore the connection between cravings and nutrient deficiencies. Understanding this link can help us make healthier choices.

Our bodies are incredibly intelligent and have a way of communicating with us when something is amiss. Cravings can be seen as forms of communication, signaling that the body is lacking certain essential nutrients. By paying attention to these cravings, we can gain valuable insights into what our bodies truly need.

Craving Chocolate
One common craving that many people experience is a desire for chocolate. While chocolate is often associated with indulgence and pleasure, it may also be a sign of magnesium deficiency. Magnesium is an essential mineral that plays a crucial role in various bodily functions, including muscle and nerve function, energy production, and the synthesis of DNA and proteins. When our bodies lack magnesium, we may experience symptoms such as muscle cramps, fatigue, and irritability. Chocolate, particularly dark chocolate, is rich in magnesium, which could explain why we crave it when our bodies are deficient in this mineral.

Craving Salt
Another common craving is for salty foods, such as chips or pretzels. This craving may indicate a deficiency in minerals like sodium, chloride, or potassium. These minerals are essential for maintaining proper fluid balance, nerve function, and muscle contractions. When our bodies lack these minerals, we may experience symptoms like muscle weakness, fatigue, and irregular heartbeat. Craving salty foods could be the body’s way of trying to replenish these essential minerals.

Craving Sugar
Cravings for sugary foods, like cookies or ice cream, are also quite common. These cravings may be a sign of a deficiency in certain amino acids, such as tryptophan or tyrosine. Amino acids are the building blocks of proteins and play a vital role in various
bodily functions, including the production of neurotransmitters like serotonin and dopamine. When our bodies lack these amino acids, we may experience symptoms like mood swings, depression, and low energy levels. Craving sugary foods could be our body’s attempt to increase the production of these neurotransmitters and improve our mood.

Biological Needs
Interestingly, cravings for specific foods can also vary depending on our gender. For example, many women experience intense cravings for chocolate or other sweet treats during their menstrual cycles. This could be due to the fluctuation of hormones, particularly estrogen and progesterone, which can affect their brain chemistry and increase their desire for sugary foods. Understanding these hormonal changes and their impact on cravings can help women make healthier choices during this time.

Alternatives to the Processed Indulgences
If you are craving chocolate, opt for dark chocolate with a high percentage of cocoa as it contains more magnesiuCravings What do they mean? Fusion Specialty Pharmacym and less sugar. If you are craving something salty, reach for a handful of nuts or seeds, which are rich in minerals like sodium and potassium. And if you are craving something sweet, try satisfying your sweet tooth by making a berry smoothie with fruits like berries or a small piece of dark chocolate. This is one of my favorite things to make, and it curbs my appetite for those sugary snack foods.

Cravings can have a profound impact on both our mental and physical well-being. Mentally, they can lead to mood swings, causing us to feel irritable, anxious, or even depressed. The constant desire for certain foods can create a sense of frustration and dissatisfaction, affecting our overall mood and emotional stability. Physically, cravings can result in lethargy and a lack of energy. The consumption of refined sugar, often found in highly processed foods, can lead to inflammation in the body. This inflammation can manifest as joint pain, digestive issues, cognitive dysfunctions, and even skin problems. Ultimately, succumbing to cravings can have detrimental effects on both our mental and physical health.

While cravings can provide valuable insights into our nutrient deficiencies, it is essential to approach them with caution. It is easy to give in to unhealthy cravings and indulge in foods that are high in sugar, salt, or unhealthy fats. Instead, we should strive to find healthier alternatives that can satisfy our cravings while providing the necessary nutrients our bodies need.

09/10/2024

Probably one of the hottest topics of our time is weight loss. I spend a great deal of time consulting and coaching my patients on this very subject. Whether it be a few pounds brought on by age-related decrease of metabolism, unhealthy lifestyles, or genetic predispositions to obesity, weight loss and weight management are topics I discuss with patients daily.

As a culture, we’re exposed to “revolutionary” fad diets, exercise routines, surgical procedures, products, supplements, and pharmaceuticals, to name a few. And in recent months, thanks to advertising, our exposure to the aforementioned has proven to be no different.

Hot Weight Loss Medications/Products That Have Recently Hit the Market
Semaglutide, the active ingredient in brand-name drugs such as Ozempic, Wegovy, and Rybelsus, which were designed for the management of type 2 diabetes, have also been shown to be effective for weight loss. Semaglutide works by targeting GLP-1, which is a thirty or thirty-one amino acid long peptide hormone that lives in the gut. Triggered when you eat, this GLP-1 mechanism tells your brain when you’re full. In some people, this mechanism doesn’t work properly, so semaglutide will affect the GLP-1 and in a sense, turn on the “I’m full” mechanism.

I am often asked the following leading questions:
How long can I use semaglutide?
If I discontinue use, will the fat come back?

The length of time you can use semaglutide will vary from person to person. If you tolerate it well and are monitored, you may be able to stay on it indefinitely. I’d like to add that if you view this medication as a “tool,” rather than a fail-safe, to help you jump-start better eating habits with food and exercise and to help you get you to a healthier place mentally and physically, you won’t need to be on it indefinitely.

Once you’ve discontinued use, you may regain your weight. Keep in mind that for the length of time you have been taking it, this drug has been telling your body that you don’t need as much food or as many calories for survival. Once it has left your system, your body may start to feel as though it’s starving, which may cause you to eat more than you did while on it. Keypoint: this is also true with any fad diet or exercise routine. Anytime you stop, there is always that risk that your weight will come back. Please also recall what I wrote above about using this medication as a “tool.” If you are able to retrain your habits and your relationship with food, you’ll be able to overcome any weight gain brought on by stopping the use of semaglutide.

Semaglutide products, whether name-brand or compounded, will require a prescription, and you should be monitored by your healthcare provider.

Quick note about compounding:
Patients are able to get semaglutide in compounded form. In particular, my pharmacy can create semaglutide lozenges in an oral form instead of an injectable form. There have been reports that compounded forms could be suspected of not being genuine. It is important to know your compounding pharmacy and its accreditations. Legitimate compounding pharmacies work extremely hard to gain and maintain accreditations and are under radical ethical guidelines. So rest assured, legitimate compounding pharmacies will not jeopardize their standing by creating substandard medications.

Over-the-counter supplements, such as CM Core and HiPhenolic by Ortho Molecular Products, are showing a lot of promise for weight management. These supplements are something I have many of my patients try frequently, and they are showing promising signs of efficacy for weight loss.

CM Core contains berberine, a plant- derived ingredient shown to boost metabolism and help regulate blood sugar as well as serve as a potent antioxidant.

HiPhenolic contains a high concentration of polyphenols (plant-derived) and helps to support normal blood pressure levels, manage weight, and control appetite.

What I love about these supplements is that they are over-the-counter, and many of my patients are reporting that while weight loss/management is one component, they have more energy and generally feel better throughout the day.

These supplements aren’t designed to work as fast as semaglutide, but if you’re someone who wants to shed a few extra pounds, they may be a good alternative to explore.

The Meat and Potatoes of Food
I have spoken with people who comment that they mainly eat salads and fruit, and yet they still have unwanted pounds. I have spoken to people who are very active, eat balanced meals, and either can’t lose weight or have gained weight. If either of these scenarios sounds familiar, here’s what we know about how our body processes food.

For the purpose of this article, I’m going to bypass naming all the hormones in our body’s complex system and the roles they play with weight and instead, jump to one hormone in particular, and that is insulin.

In brevity, insulin is created by the pancreas, and its sole function is to carry sugars we’ve consumed to blood cells for energy. If our body is insulin resistant, glucose can’t enter the cells as easily, which leads it to build up in the blood and may cause type 2 diabetes and/or obesity. In other words, when insulin levels are high, your body switches to a state of “fat storage,” and the fat that is stored is sugar that can’t be utilized.

Interestingly, just thinking of sweet treats can cause the body to create insulin and start its biological process. Isn’t that crazy? The same holds true for imagining your favorite meal; your mouth may start to salivate, and your body may literally get ready to ingest and digest this imaginary meal.

Can you counteract the insulin resistance response?
Yes. Enjoy your dessert after your meal. While we’ve been brought up to think of dessert as saving the best for last, let’s now think of it this way: when you eat your meal consisting of proteins, fats, and fibers first, any sugars you consume afterward (even carbohydrates) now have a cushion that helps your body process sugar more slowly and efficiently. You may not even desire that sweet treat after all.

If you’re curious about your blood sugar, there are wearable glucose monitors on the market. I highly recommend them to anyone who is on a weight loss journey. Your biggest asset will be how your support yourself and increase your knowledge.
