Got this from a friend and thought it was interesting if anyone wanted to join up, especially with the hurricane cleanup/work that needs to be done.
Hey Folks,
Please consider volunteering your time for what is likely to be a large event this week.
Of course this is from the perspective of 4x4 but that shouldn’t stop you if you don’t have one. There are a lot of these types of groups, reaching out to impacted communities and they will definitely need help.
I am a member of OERN Overland Emergency response network (https://www.oernet.org/). It’s a not for profit group that relies on members to volunteer time and skills to help communities in need during disasters. If you join their page (https://www.facebook.com/oernet/) they normally schedule group training on emergency communications (HAM), emergency first aid, search and rescue and other emergency preparedness type training.
Southeast region is region 4 (https://www.facebook.com/groups/138442770107817/?source_id=439650673043787)
If you have other skills such as carpentry, medical, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, we are always in need. OERN partners with local communities to make this happen. Please consider signing up to be a volunteer, if not with OERNET then one of the many not for profit groups. Even a small thing like owning a trailer or boat or a vehicle that can tow can help. Sign up here, no commitment, even if you cant help now, you will be looped in to help when you can. https://www.oernet.org/get-involved/become-a-volunteer/
Stay safe. Let me know if you would like more information.
