Happy Tell-the-Truth Tuesday! Today, we’re going to debunk a common misconception surrounding bone fractures:

❌ If you can move it, it’s not broken.
✅ You can still move a fractured bone, especially if it’s just a hairline fracture. Pain, swelling, and bruising are more reliable signs than mobility. However, there’s no substitute for visiting an orthopedic specialist, who can properly diagnose the injury and provide appropriate treatment to ensure proper healing.

To see one of our fracture experts here at Cary Orthopaedics, call (919) 573-4825 now for an appointment.

Swimming checks all the fitness boxes:

✅ Boosts cardiovascular efficiency
✅ Builds muscle strength
✅ Sculpts and conditions your entire body

But even the best full-body workout has a downside: the repetitive strokes can lead to overuse injuries, especially in your shoulders and knees.

If swimming just a few laps left you with lingering pain, come see one of our sports medicine specialists here at Cary Orthopaedics for proper treatment. Call (919) 573-4825 to book an appointment.

Back pain ruining your morning vibe? Your sleeping position may be to blame.

Stomach sleeping is one of the leading causes of morning low back pain, as it puts unnecessary stress on your spine. To support your back while you sleep, try lying on your back with a pillow under your knees or on your side with a pillow between your knees and your legs slightly bent. If you’re a side sleeper, remember to alternate sides and avoid curling into the fetal position, which can strain your spine.

If adjusting your sleep posture doesn’t bring relief, turn to one of our orthopedic spine specialists, who can uncover the root cause and provide effective treatment. Call us at (919) 467-4992 to book an appointment.

We’re kicking off our Q&A series, bringing you the sharpest insights straight from our orthopedic experts!

Q: What does bone-on-bone arthritis mean?
A: Bone-on-bone arthritis is essentially the layman’s term for advanced osteoarthritis (OA), where cartilage has completely worn away. Cartilage is what cushions your bones and joints when you move or use them. Without it, your bones rub directly against each other, causing sharp pain, stiffness, swelling, and reduced mobility. Severe OA often requires surgical intervention, particularly joint replacement, for functional restoration and long-term pain relief.

Concerned that you may have bone-on-bone arthritis? We got you. Book a consultation today. Call us at (919) 573-4825

If you’re hunching over your phone day in and day out, this is your sign to straighten up, literally.

Prolonged slouching or craning your head forward can lead to the development of what is known as a dowager’s hump – a visible rounding of your upper spine. Medically referred to as cervical kyphosis, a dowager's hump doesn’t just affect your appearance; it causes headaches, back pain, and fatigue as well.

Improving your posture, stretching regularly, and taking frequent breaks from screen time can help you avoid this problem. But if you’re already experiencing the symptoms, visit one of our spine specialists here at Cary Orthopaedics. Call (919) 467-4992 to schedule an appointment.

Knee arthritis flaring up again? Don’t get so used to popping pain pills. Ask us about platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy, your body's best-kept secret weapon.

This innovative treatment uses your own blood to stimulate your body’s healing mechanisms, making it a safe, all-natural, and highly effective alternative to pain medications. Studies suggest that PRP injections can provide significant and longer-lasting pain relief, improve joint function and mobility, and slow arthritis progression by promoting tissue repair and reducing inflammation.

Ready to experience the benefits of PRP therapy firsthand? Schedule an appointment today. Call us at (919) 467-4992.
