Healing Transitions

Healing Transitions Healing Transitions a nonprofit organization that offers peer-based recovery services.

Healing Transitions has been providing peer driven long term residential services since January of 2001. During that time we have been very successful in empowering people who are homeless and suffer from substance use issues transition to a fulfilling life. Along with our community partners, we have been able to reduce Wake County homeless population by 25% even as the overall population in Wake County has grown 45%. That constitutes an approximate 50% drop in the number of un-sheltered homeless individuals on our streets.

A huge shoutout to Salvation Army and their Project CATCH for donating over 70 backpacks and school supplies to our participants’ families!

Everyone knows that Back to School season is incredibly hectic and now, these families will have one less thing to worry about.

Thank you so much to everyone who donated, thank you Salvation Army and Project CATCH, and finally, thank you Beth Tillet for connecting us to this amazing project!

Rapid Response has been rocking and rolling!

Yesterday, our RR team attended the Ribbon Cutting for Morse Clinic’s new Mobile Clinic at our Men’s Campus. Together with Morse Clinic, they met with important elected officials like First Lady Anna Stein to discuss the stigma surrounding medical treatment of opioid use disorder.

Congrats to our Morse Clinic partners for this amazing achievement and thank you for providing an invaluable and life-saving resource to our HT Village!

Last week, our Rapid Response and Bringing Neighbors Home teams volunteered at the annual Meet Us At The Square event to support our neighbors experiencing homelessness.

They offered free resources such as hygiene supplies, naloxone, and harm reduction kits. But most importantly, they offered hope, love and laughter 💛

Nominations are now open for the Fred Barber Legacy of Service Awards!

Established in 2016, the Fred Barber Legacy of Service Awards honor the extraordinary spirit of service exemplified by Fred Barber, a founder of The Healing Place of Wake County. Fred devoted his time, talents, and resources in countless ways—serving on nonprofit boards, teaching weekly Recovery Dynamics® classes, mentoring individuals in recovery, and helping people secure housing and employment.

We’re seeking nominations for individuals and organizations who go above and beyond in volunteering their time and talents. Nominees will be evaluated on the impact (65%) and perseverance (35%) of their service.

Nominations close August 5, and we’ll celebrate honorees at the awards ceremony on September 18!

To nominate someone or to RSVP for the ceremony, visit: https://healing-transitions.org/about/events/

Meet Cassandra. Her journey through trauma and addiction wasn’t easy. She first came to Healing Transitions in 2009, but it wasn’t until 2016 that she returned, faced her past, and began truly healing. Today she’s reconnected with her family, helps others find hope, and continues to give back as an Administrative Assistant at our men’s campus—all while managing a recovery house.

"The rewards of recovery are endless,” she says.
