Somewhere between 60 and 90 percent of surgical patients experience anxiety about anesthesia, not the surgery, but the anesthesia. And up to one in four will actually put off a necessary procedure because of it.

Anyone remember playing the game Memory as a small child?
Here is an online version suitable for children 3+ that may help introduce your child to the equipment in the operating room.
Some images are familiar like a gumball machine and a toy grabber- fun things they have seen before.
Some of the images are new, like the EKG machine and a nurse wearing scrubs, a mask, and a scrub hat.
By mixing these familiar images with new images, my hope is that kids approach surgery day with curiosity and confidence instead of fear of the unknown.
