ATTENTION! VETERAN SUPPORT NEEDED!!!

What: Rolesville Town Board of Commissioners Meeting
Where: Rolesville Town Hall, 502 Southtown Circle, Rolesville, NC 27571
When: Tuesday, May 7th, 7PM
Why: The Joel Fund is under contract on land in the heart of Rolesville to build a veteran community/resource center. The land needs to be rezoned from residential to commercial. The Joel Fund will be presenting to the town commissioners at this meeting and the commissioners will vote on whether or not to grant the rezoning. We need to pack the room full of Wake County veterans showing their support for the work we do within the veteran and military communities.

The issue: The oldest home in Rolesville sits on the land that The Joel Fund is under contract on. The home can not be added to the Historical Society of NC because it has been added on to, renovated, and updated over the years. There is not much left that is original to the home. The Joel Fund has met with Preservation NC and a contractor that specializes in historical renovations. The amount of money to renovate the historic home to bring it up to commercial code (and make it ADA compliant) is almost double the cost as it is to renovate one of the other homes on the land.

The possible solution: The Joel Fund will not be doing anything with the old home for quite a while and will work with Preservation NC to advertise the home as free to anyone who would like to pay to move it. If we are not able to find a suitable solution, we will explore a strategic demolition and save parts of the home to use in a new construction building that will be part of the veteran center. We would also use that as an opportunity to share the story of the old home and we would look into getting a historical site marker for the land. All of this would be the last case scenario.

Open Slot Management, also known as OSM, allows Veterans waiting for a VA medical appointment to reschedule to an earlier date using their mobile device’s text messaging. OSM uses the established VEText appointment reminder text system to automatically offer a Veteran, who has a pending appointment, the opportunity to reschedule into an earlier slot when one becomes available. To participate in open slot management, you must first have opted into the VEText program and have an active cellphone number filed in your medical records. Veterans that previously opted out of receiving VEText messages can opt in by simply replying START to 53079 or to any previously sent VEText message. , , ,

Please take a look at this information for a free dental this Saturday!!! Appointments are needed.

It is our privilege and joy, at Lane & Associates Family Dentistry, to help and serve those brave men and women who have served our country in the US Armed Forces, who have dental concerns, needs, and limited financial resources that hinder them from receiving necessary treatment.

We still have openings for Saturday, Oct.21st, 2023, 7 AM-12 Noon.

Where it is only a one-day clinic, the scope of treatment is limited to: free dental cleaning, x-rays, and dental exams; if a doctor determines additional treatment is necessary on the day of the Outreach, the scope of treatment is limited to: a filling restoration (possibly two), a CEREC crown, a dental extraction (possibly two), or root canal on one tooth if indicated.

If you are a US Veteran or an immediate veteran family member, and would like to participate in our Saturday Clinic, please contact us!
