This sweet girl is named La Gorda! She was recently found by the side of the road with an open wound and severe lameness at her right hind limb. She had a fracture repaired elsewhere and developed a severe bone infection secondary to the implants. She had very limited range of motion at her right hip and knee. Dr. Whyte performed a limb amputation due to how severely the limb was affected and La Gorda is THRIVING post-op with her new, loving family!

๐ŸŒŸ What Is a Board-Certified Veterinary Surgeon? ๐ŸŒŸ
At TVSC, your petโ€™s surgical care is in the hands of specially trained experts.

A board-certified surgeon is a veterinarian who has completed years of advanced training beyond veterinary school and has been certified by the American College of Veterinary Surgeons (ACVS). These specialists carry the credential DACVS, meaning theyโ€™ve met the highest standards in veterinary surgery.

To become board-certified, a veterinarian must:
โœ… Complete a 1-year internship
โœ… Complete a 3-year ACVS-approved surgical residency
โœ… Publish scientific research
โœ… Pass rigorous board examinations

Only veterinarians who complete this intensive process can call themselves surgical specialists.

At TVSC, weโ€™re proud to offer the expertise of ACVS-boarded surgeonsโ€”because your pet deserves the very best. ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿพ
