ARE YOU TRAINING TOO MUCH?⤵

With the idea of "no pain, no gain" as a recognizable slogan, many people end up fixating too greatly on this as their motivational motto and end up over-training. Although consistency is always key as well as increasing demand relative to what are bodies can handle, there is a progressible limit one should be cognizant of.

There are certain signs that we should recognize as red flags, warning us that rest is needed (and most likely long overdue):
➡Decline in training performance
➡Sore for too long after training
➡More sensitive to injury
➡Fast resting heart rate
➡Restless and/or sleepless nights
➡Waves of mood swings
➡Small appetite

If you check 1 or more of these, it's time to rest and recover. This will allow your body and mind to heal properly and come back stronger the next time you go to train. There are various ways to overcome muscular stiffness and mental fatigue, such as hot baths, manual therapy, cupping, yoga, mediation, etc., just find one that works for you that you can be consistent with for your recovery days.

SHRIMP FRIED CAULIFLOWER RICE⤵

-INGREDIENTS-
3 tablespoons coconut oil
10 ounce medium shrimp
5 large eggs (lightly beaten)
1 cup sliced green onions
16 ounces riced cauliflower
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
1/4 teaspoon kosher salt

-INSTRUCTIONS-
1⃣Heat 1 1/2 teaspoons coconut oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium-high. Add shrimp; cook 3 minutes. Remove shrimp from pan.
2⃣Return pan to medium-high. Add 1 1/2 teaspoons oil. Add eggs; cook 2 minutes or until almost set, stirring once. Fold cooked eggs in half; remove from pan. Cool, and cut into 1/2-inch pieces.
3⃣Heat remaining 2 tablespoons oil in pan over medium-high. Add 3/4 cup green onions and cauliflower; cook 5 minutes, without stirring, or until browned. Stir in shrimp, eggs, pepper, and salt. Top with remaining 1/4 cup green onions.

BEEF TACO SOUP⤵

-INGREDIENTS-
➡1 tbsp olive oil
➡1 yellow onion (finely chopped)
➡5 cloves garlic (minced)
➡1 pound ground beef
➡1/2 tsp salt
➡1 red bell pepper (diced)
➡1 green bell pepper (diced)
➡1 jalapeno (finely diced)
➡1 tsp dried oregano
➡2 tbsp cumin
➡2 tsp paprika
➡1 tsp chili powder
➡1 tsp coriander
➡2 tbsp tomato paste
➡2 cups halved cherry tomatoes
➡3 cup beef stock
Optional toppings:
➡salsa
➡sliced avocado
➡chopped cilantro
➡grated cheddar cheese

-INSTRUCTIONS-
1⃣Heat the olive oil in a large pot on medium high heat. Add in the diced onion and garlic and cook for approx 3 minutes until the onion begins to soften. Add the ground beef to the pot, season with salt and use a wooden spoon to break the meat up into a fine crumbly consistency. Cook for approximately 5 minutes until most of the beef is no longer pink.
2⃣Add in the diced jalapeno, and red and green peppers, give everything a stir and cook for 5 more minutes until the bell peppers begin to soften.
3⃣Stir in the oregano, cumin, paprika, chili powder, coriander and tomato paste. Once the spices are all mixed through, add in the chopped tomatoes and beef stock, reduce the heat to medium and leave the soup to simmer for 15 minutes.
4⃣Divide the soup between bowls and garnish with any toppings of choice including salsa, avocado or cilantro.
