Nobody handed me a leadership credential and told me I was qualified to build what I have built.
I started as a paraeducator in 1999. No business degree. No startup capital. No mentor who pulled me into a room and told me I had what it took.
What I had was a decision.
A decision to take responsibility for outcomes I cared about — in my clinic, in my community, in the industry I was part of. A decision to show up with the knowledge I had and use it in service of something bigger than my own comfort.
That decision is what made me a leader.
Not a title. Not a degree. Not someone else's approval.
I have watched entrepreneurs wait for external validation before they stepped into the authority they already carried.
Waiting for the certification. For the follower count. For the right client. For the right moment.
And I have watched those same entrepreneurs, once they stopped waiting and started deciding, become exactly the leader they were waiting for permission to be.
The people who need what you know do not need you to be credentialed.
They need you to show up.
Permission is not required.
The decision to lead is yours to make.
