Even though you may have suffered an injury at the scene of an accident, symptoms don’t appear immediately. That’s often the case for whiplash injuries. In fact, you may not feel the full symptoms of whiplash until a few hours or days after the accident. Unfortunately, for the millions of Americans who suffer from this injury yearly, it frequently results in chronic pain and disability. Rather than taking a chance, seek medical attention as soon as possible following an auto accident to give yourself the best chance to recover. Call us to schedule a consultation today.

Did you know that most auto accidents happen about 25 miles from home?

As drivers navigate the roads and get used to them, they may feel overconfident, allowing themselves to be more distracted and take risks that they might not otherwise have taken on less-traveled roads. Some drivers take this opportunity to check their phones, do their daily grooming, and do all kinds of other things that shouldn’t happen behind the wheel of a car. In addition, drivers are more likely to drive intoxicated the closer they are to home, assuming they can navigate their vehicle safely on a familiar road, increasing the likelihood of crashes in their neighborhood or nearby.

Car accidents are unpredictable. However, drivers should always be focused; it is no different, even when driving around the neighborhood. Regardless of where an accident occurs, a car crash can result in painful and debilitating injuries, so it’s important to seek medical attention even if you don’t feel hurt. Call us to schedule an appointment today.

Back problems aren’t the only ailment associated with improper posture. Poor posture can affect you in numerous ways, contributing to problems such as headaches, neck pain, jaw pain, poor digestion, and impaired circulation. And as we focus on May as Correct Your Posture Month, we thought it would be the perfect time for a little posture refresher. To help celebrate, we’ve compiled a few tips to help improve your posture when sitting at your desk.

✅ Sit with your back straight and your shoulders back

✅ Relax your shoulders; they should not be rounded or pulled backward

✅ Don’t cross your legs; keep your feet on the floor, with your ankles in front of your knees

✅ Make sure that your feet touch the floor, or if that’s not possible, use a footrest

✅ Rest your forearms on the table while keeping your shoulders back

✅ Keep your elbows close to your body. They should be bent between 90 and 120 degrees.

✅ Your chin should be parallel to the floor, and your ears would align with your collarbone

✅ Gently stretch your muscles

✅ Take brief walks

Recently the NHTSA has reported recalling more than 400,000 Nissan vehicles across North America because the emblem on the steering wheel could come loose when the airbag is deployed. Nissan is aware of the four injuries that have been reported, which may have resulted from the flying emblems. When the airbags deploy, the Nissan emblem can fly off rather than remain attached, shooting the logo toward drivers, passengers, or other parts of the vehicle at great force, which poses a threat to the vehicle occupants in the event of a collision.

The recall affects the following vehicles:

✅ 2008-2011 Nissan Titan

✅ 2008-2011 Nissan Frontier

✅ 2008-2011 Nissan Xterra

✅ 2008-2011 Nissan Pathfinder

✅ 2008-2011 Nissan Armada

✅ 2008-2009 Nissan Quest

For some drivers, one of their biggest fears is being stranded on an empty road without assistance. While no driver would like to think about getting into an accident or running into any car trouble, such as a dead battery that leaves them stuck on the side of the road, these issues do occur. Because you never know when you will experience an emergency, it’s important to be ready for any circumstance. To be prepared and safe on the road, everyone who drives a car should carry an emergency supply kit stocked with essential items in their auto.

April is , and we are doing our part by urging drivers to use caution and stay focused when on the roadways. It is estimated that more than 600,000 drivers nationwide drive distractedly at any given time, whether talking on a cell phone, trying to send a text, or simply not paying attention as they drive. Anything that takes your attention away from driving is a distraction, and you could be seconds away from a severe accident. Sadly, these bad habits kill and seriously injure thousands yearly, making the roads more dangerous than ever.

It just takes one second of your attention to change a life forever. So, take this time to remind yourself and others to put down the phone and keep your eyes on the road.

If you’re nervous about being on the road at night, you have a good reason. Driving at night can be tricky, whether you’re leaving a late dinner, work, or in the winter months combating daylight saving time as it gets darker earlier in the day. Reduced visibility, drowsiness, increased headlight glare, and more people driving under the influence make driving challenging at night. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, road fatalities are three times more likely when driving at night compared to the daytime. While it is true that some people have an easier time driving at night than others, it’s still important to know how to keep yourself and others safe.

If you have been the unfortunate victim of a car accident at night or any other time, getting your injuries checked out as soon as possible is important. A visit to a reputable chiropractor can help you take the first steps to recovery with a comprehensive treatment plan for your injuries. Give us a call today to schedule an appointment.

Every year on the second Sunday in March, much of the United States, besides Arizona and Hawaii, will forward their clocks an hour due to daylight savings time (DST). While some people enjoy the extra hour of daylight, others dread the lost hour of sleep, and data shows that increased car accidents accompany springtime changes. A recent study found that a single lost hour of sleep in the switch to DST has demonstrated a consistent increase over 21 years (1996 and 2017) in the fatal crash rate by about 6% during the week after DST contributed to nearly 28 deaths yearly. One of the biggest reasons for this increased risk is that the time shift impacts sleep patterns, making drivers feel more fatigued.

Being involved in a car accident is, unfortunately, a common high-stress situation that most people will encounter at least once in their lifetime. So, it’s important to know what information to gather in the aftermath of an accident, especially when another driver’s negligence caused it.
