Building skills beyond the clinic 🎬✨

Last Saturday our social groups took learning into the community with a trip to the movies! From practicing waiting in line and purchasing snacks to waiting appropriately for their order to using appropriate voice volume and engaging with peers, every moment was an opportunity to grow.

A big thank you to AMC for creating a sensory-friendly environment for our clients by adjusting the sound and lighting to better support their needs—we truly appreciate the accommodation and inclusivity 💙

Shoutout to our incredible supervisor Mr. Leon for planning and to all our staff who said yes and dedicated their Saturday prime time to support our kiddos and make this happen. Your commitment does not go unnoticed!

Sharing how we helped our kiddos get ready in a fun, supportive way! 🧡

In our social group, we focused on:
✨ Desensitization for trick-or-treating — practicing walking up to different “houses,” saying trick or treat, and taking candy from buckets.
✨ Learning to accept different treats — practicing flexibility and good sportsmanship when receiving candy that may not be their first choice. 🍬
✨ Costume preparation — trying on or talking about costumes ahead of time to make sure everyone feels comfortable and confident! 🦸‍♀️🧙‍♂️

We had several trick-or-treat stations set up, so each child can practice these skills in a safe, familiar environment — while still having lots of fun with peers! 🎃💬

These activities help build important social cues, communication, and coping skills — so when Halloween night arrives, our kiddos can enjoy every sweet, spooky moment! 👻💜

We’re sending our best wishes to Sarah and Karina as they begin their maternity leave this September💕 Their hard work, dedication, and positive spirit have made such an impact to our kiddos and our staff. And while we’ll miss them at the office, we’re thrilled for this new chapter in their lives!
