Healing then: Surviving the storm and keeping my head above water.

Healing now: Learning how to dance in the rain and build a home within myself.

Growth isn’t just about getting through the hard days; it’s about changing how we live through them. 🌱

Rooted in one soil, blooming in another, and carrying the storms of both. ⛈️ Sometimes, the storms aren’t external; they are the quiet, heavy clouds of anxiety we carry within us. It’s the constant tug-of-war between the person I was and the person I’m trying to become. Some days, just staying rooted is the greatest victory. I’m learning that you can be anxious and brave at the same time, that you can tremble and still grow toward the light.

High-functioning doesn’t mean fine.

We often think that if we could still show up, look the part, and do the job, then the trauma/depression didn’t “count.” But you can still be successful and struggling at the same time.

The blazer is real, but so is the need for rest. I’m honoring the version of me that works hard, and the version of me that needs to sit in a bright yellow chair and just be. 💛

How will you honor yourself this week?

Some parts of the journey feel steady.
Some feel disorienting.

Some take you somewhere you didn’t plan.
It might look like:
• feeling successful but constantly on edge
• repeating the same relationship patterns
• navigating a new season of life and feeling unprepared
• thinking you were “over it” and realizing you’re not

🚁Growth can feel adventurous.🚁
It can also feel uncomfortable.😟

🌱At My Serenity Mental Wellness, we support both the clarity and the uncertainty. Whether you’re working through anxiety, trauma, or a life transition, we help you understand what’s beneath the surface and build steadiness from within.

We are not meant to juggle everything at the same time. Im fact in doing so your stress level can peak and/or even trigger feelings of frustration and anger.

When it feels that everything is falling apart. Focus on one thing that has 💪 worked out. Sometimes prioritizing the most important can help to put things into perspective. Try it out!

😲Remember resilience is built not automatic. However, learning to also lean on support systems and off hand tasks or responsibilities can help. We are not perfect nor should we place on ourselves unrealistic expectations.

Need support or evaluate your stress, anger, mental health status...we can help. I'm Eric and accepting new clients at this time. 909.727.2577 | therapy@myserenitymw.com | www.myserenitymw.org

Hi I am Jillian.
🌿 Somatic & Outdoor Therapy at My Serenity 🌿

Healing doesn’t only happen through words. Sometimes it begins in the body.

At My Serenity Mental Wellness, we integrate somatic therapy and outdoor sessions to help clients reconnect with themselves in deeper, more regulated ways. Trauma, anxiety, and stress don’t just live in our thoughts — they live in our nervous system. Through gentle body awareness, grounding techniques, and movement, clients learn to feel safe again from the inside out.

Outdoor therapy adds another layer. Nature naturally calms the nervous system. Being surrounded by trees, fresh air, and sunlight can soften defenses, increase presence, and support emotional processing in a way traditional settings sometimes cannot.

We believe healing happens in connection — to self, to body, and to the world around us.

Jillian brings warmth, authenticity, and a grounded presence to every session. We’re grateful to have her as part of our My Serenity Family 🌿

Have you ever wondered why a stressful event from five years ago can still make your heart race like it happened five minutes ago?

It’s not a lack of willpower or "dwelling on the past." It’s actually a biological glitch. When we experience trauma, our brain’s natural processing system can quite literally freeze.

The Brain on Pause:
Normally, our brain processes experiences by moving them from the Amygdala (the emotional alarm system) to the Hippocampus (the librarian that files memories away) and finally to the Prefrontal Cortex (the logical center that makes sense of things).
But when an event is too overwhelming, the alarm system stays "on." The memory gets stuck in the limbic system, raw and unprocessed.

The result: The memory doesn't become a "story" from your past; it remains a "threat" in your present. This is the Frozen Brain.

How EMDR "Unfreezes" the System:
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) acts like a biological key to that frozen lock.
By using bilateral stimulation (like guided eye movements or taps), EMDR jumpstarts the brain’s processing power. It allows the brain to:
Unlock the stuck memory. Reconnect the emotional brain with the logical brain. File the memory away so it feels like something that happened, rather than something that is happening.

Moving Forward:
Healing isn’t about forgetting; it’s about taking the "charge" out of the memory. When we unfreeze the brain, we reclaim the energy we’ve been using to keep those memories at bay.

Have you ever felt like your brain was "stuck" on a certain loop? Understanding biology is the first step toward thawing it out.
