Today I had the opportunity to speak at Career Day at Grant Elementary School… and it truly meant so much to me.
I didn’t want to just talk about mental health I wanted them to feel it and understand that it belongs to them too.
We talked about what mental health means in a simple way…
how feelings show up in the body, and I asked them:
👉 “Where do you feel your feelings?”
👉 “Do they feel fast or slow?”
We practiced breathing together, placing a hand on the belly and slowing things down.
We talked about the nervous system in a way they could actually understand not clinical, just real.
We had honest conversations about bullying, rumors, and trust… how something shared in private doesn’t always stay private, and how that can hurt.
And that led to something I deeply believe in — that therapy is a space where you are safe, heard, and protected.
We talked about support systems, and how a therapist can be one of those people not to fix you, but to listen and help you feel better.
✨ One message we kept coming back to:
All feelings are okay.
And then… a moment I won’t forget.
One student shared they had been in therapy before, during a time when their father was not in the home.
And it melted my heart.
Because it was a reminder that what we do stays with people… that seeds are being planted even when we don’t see it.
To that therapist you made a difference.
And to my fellow therapists…
✨ what we do matters.
✨ we matter too.
When a student asked if I love what I do…
my answer was easy — yes.
Because helping people feel seen, heard, and a little less alone… will always mean something to me.
Grateful for moments like this 🌱
