Sub-Is and clerkships can be tough, but they don’t have to be! Here are some of our tips to succeed during your rotations.

1. Be willing & eager to learn: Each day is an opportunity to learn and get better, show up accordingly!

2. Master the ‘bread and butter’: In FM there are conditions we see every day, read about them early on in your rotation. Examples include Hypertension, Diabetes, Hyperlipidemia, COPD, etc.

3. Utilize practice question banks: Do a few questions a day, especially if you have a shelf exam after your rotation. You may not see every testable topic while in the clinic; question banks will help close that gap.

4. Ask questions: Stay curious! If you have questions ask your preceptor, resident or attending.

5. Memorize commonly used USPSTF: Some of memorization will happen as you refer to these guidelines throughout the month, but they will pop up on your shelf exam so the sooner you memorize them the better.
