We’re honored to announce the new American Heroes: Portraits of Service in Texas exhibit at Dallas Love Field Airport. Now on display near baggage claim at DAL, the exhibit showcases portraits of 39 distinguished senior veterans from our four Belmont Village Texas communities who valiantly served their country during World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, and peacetime, all captured through the lens of renowned photographer Thomas Sanders. 📸

The installation of the exhibit at DAL marks the third public display of American Heroes: Portraits of Service, following its acclaimed exhibitions at Chicago O'Hare International Airport and Chicago Midway International Airport that continue to draw thousands of travelers and community members who pause to honor the veterans’ remarkable stories. This specially curated exhibition made exclusively for DAL, will be on display near baggage claim through December 31, 2025, so be sure to check it out if you're passing through! ✈️❤️

Meet Beverly, aka “Bookmark Bev,” one of our incredible residents at Belmont Village Senior Living St. Matthews, whose passion for reading has inspired thousands. 💌 For more than 20 years, Bev has handcrafted one-of-a-kind bookmarks, sparked by a personal mission that began when her grandson was diagnosed with dyslexia. She even has two of her bookmarks at the Smithsonian in Washington D.C., on permanent exhibit. What began as a local effort in Louisville schools has grown into a global act of kindness, as her bookmarks have now reached children around the world. Just take a look at the photo; the red dots on the map show all the places where Bev’s bookmarks have found a home. 🌍📌 To Bev, reading is more than a skill; it’s a lifelong gift. 🎁📚❤️

September is Fall Prevention Month, and we’re proud to spotlight our partners at Rise by HealthPro Heritage, who work closely with our Belmont Village Senior Living Lincoln Park community. 🤝 One inspiring story comes from Charles, a Belmont Village resident who arrived unable to walk and reliant on others for daily activities. Through his determination and the dedicated support of our therapy team, Charles has regained his independence—now confidently walking with his walker and managing many of his daily activities on his own. 🚶‍♂️💪

Today, on the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II, we honor the bravery and sacrifice of the Greatest Generation. More than 16 million Americans answered the call to serve—including Dr. Randolph Scheen, now 100 years old, a proud U.S. Navy Seabee and resident of Belmont Village Senior Living St. Matthews.

As a young man, Dr. Scheen landed on the beaches of Iwo Jima in 1945, showing courage during one of the war’s most pivotal and harrowing battles. His service, and that of all who served, continues to inspire us today. 🙏❤️

In honor of World Senior Citizen's Day, we are spotlighting the powerful role our residents are playing in shaping, inspiring, and enriching the world around them. 🌎✨ Each year, our Belmont Blooms campaigns encourage residents to explore sustainability through creative, community-focused initiatives, ranging from farm-to-table dining and upcycling projects to sustainable fashion shows. Our Belmont Blooms campaign really focuses on deepened connections and raised awareness of older adults’ roles in giving back and shaping their local communities. Happy National Couples Day! 💕✨ Today, we’re celebrating Jan & Otto, one of our beautiful couples who found love at our Belmont Village Senior Living Lakeway community three years ago where their love story began in Bible Study. From reading scripture together to staying fit, they share a deep bond, and one of their favorite traditions is color coordinating their outfits every day! Jan and Otto's love story reminds us that finding love and creating special moments are timeless. 🥂💖

Fire Update 🚨

We are closely monitoring the LA County fires and wind conditions. At this time, all of our Los Angeles area communities are safe and not in immediate danger. We have not been notified of any outages that would affect our other LA communities. We are monitoring air quality at all of our communities and have protocols in place to limit impact within our buildings. Join us for an educational webinar that could save you and your loved ones time, money, and stress. We’ll learn how to recognize and avoid common scams that are targeted at seniors and their families. These scams have become more convincing and sophisticated than ever. We’ll review phishing scams that attempt to steal your personal information, fake tech support scams, and grandparent scams— callers posting as a grandchild. Illinois residents will also learn how to file a complaint regarding scams with the Illinois Attorney General’s Office.

Speaker: Sonya Tompkins, Liaison, Illinois Attorney General’s Office

Sonya works to foster communication and collaboration between the government and the community. Previously, she held a leadership role with the Cook County Treasurer’s office, spearheading initiatives such as Black Houses Matter. With a background as a longtime former talk radio producer with WVON 1690AM, Sonya brings a wealth of experience in media, communications, and community engagement to her current role.
