New research is exploring how red and near-infrared light interacts with heart cells at the cellular level 📊

A recent published review shows photobiomodulation (PBM) may help mitigate cardiovascular remodeling, support circulation, and reduce age-related decline in heart function in preclinical models. PBM has been linked to improved endothelial function and vascular health in animal studies.

Another LED-Red study found that 630 nm red light improved cardiac output and mitochondrial ATP production, reduced fibrosis, and supported healthier heart tissue in mice with heart failure.

Fundamentally, PBM works by stimulating cytochrome c oxidase in mitochondria which increases ATP (cellular energy), modulates nitric oxide, and helps regulate inflammation and cell signaling.
