Your tap water may contain human hormones... and there are zero federal limits on them. š«£
Natural hormones, pharmaceutical residues, and synthetic endocrine disruptors are entering drinking water from human waste, agricultural runoff, medications, and personal care products.
Even at low levels, exposure has been linked to reproductive issues, hormone-related cancers, developmental problems, and metabolic disorders.
The EPA has flagged these as ācontaminants of emerging concern,ā but utilities arenāt required to test for or remove them.
This is #2 out 10 in our Emerging Contaminants of 2026 series.
Next up: Trihalomethanes!
