January is National Slavery and Human Trafficking Prevention Month. π―οΈ
Itβs a heavy reality to face, but human trafficking is often hidden in plain sight occurring in our neighborhoods, our industries, and our cities. Silence is one of the greatest tools for exploitation, and this month, weβre committed to breaking that silence.
Awareness isn't just about knowing the problem exists; it's about knowing how to respond. When we educate ourselves and our communities, we move one step closer to a world where everyone is free.
How you can take action today:
Educate:
Learn the common indicators. Trafficking doesn't always look like what we see in the movies; it often involves subtle coercion and labor exploitation.
Support:
Follow and donate to organizations on the front lines, like or local survivor shelters.
Wear Blue:
Join the movement on January 11th by wearing blue to raise public awareness.
Speak Up: Trust your gut. If a situation looks suspicious, report it to the professionals.
π National Human Trafficking Hotline: Call: 1-888-373-7888 (TTY: 711) Text: "HELP" or "INFO" to 233733
Together, we can turn awareness into action. ποΈ
