TMS stands for Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation. It’s an FDA-approved, non-invasive therapy used to treat depression—especially when medication hasn’t been effective. It works by using magnetic pulses to activate specific areas of the brain involved in mood regulation. There’s no medication involved, no sedation, and no downtime.

Unlike medications, TMS does not circulate through the bloodstream, which means it avoids systemic side effects. Treatment is delivered while the patient is awake and alert, and sessions typically take less than 15 minutes, depending on the protocol used.

Alcina brings over 20 years of experience in mental health nursing. She earned her Master of Science in Nursing from Regis College and is a Board Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner.

Her approach is non-judgmental, collaborative, and empathetic, with a focus on the connection between mental and physical health.
