Have you seen the plaid donation boxes at Gifford? We’ve been collecting food for Bethel Food Shelf all month, and we’d love for YOU to join us in helping out!

Next time you visit, consider bringing a non-perishable food donation to support local families in need. The plaid boxes are in the waiting rooms at all of our clinics and at the main entrance of Gifford Medical Center until Dec. 2.

Your donation, whether it’s a can, box, or bag, helps ensure that our neighbors have enough to eat this season. Every little bit makes a difference! 💚

Note: Please make sure your items are shelf-stable and not expired.

A huge THANK YOU to our incredible community for your ongoing support!

At Gifford’s Birthing Center, compassionate, individualized care is at the heart of everything we do and stories like this remind us why our team is so special.

We recently received a beautiful testimonial from a new family about how nurse Chelsea Liese went above and beyond during their delivery and postpartum experience. Her attentiveness, support, and genuine care helped make their first days as parents calmer, more confident, and deeply supported.

Chelsea, thank you for the dedication, knowledge, and kindness you bring to every family you care for. You embody the spirit of Gifford’s Birthing Center. 💚

If you’re expecting or planning for the future, we invite you to learn more about the personalized, family-centered care offered at Gifford’s Birthing Center:

We’re about halfway through No Shave November, and we’re loving the progress so far! 🙌🏼 Huge shoutout to this team for ditching the razor and raising awareness for men’s health issues.

Did you know that men have a higher overall cancer incidence rate compared to women, with certain cancers like prostate and colorectal cancer being more common? Regular screenings and early detection are critical, so if you haven’t had a check-up recently, today’s the day to make that appointment!

Meet Team Gifford! Say hello to Dr. Josh White 👋

Dr. White has been a vital part of the Gifford team since 2010, serving as our Chief Medical Officer and Emergency Physician. He loves the personal connections he gets to build with both patients and staff, something he truly values about working at Gifford. It’s the kind of place where you’re more than just a name on a chart, and that’s exactly why he’s been here for over a decade!

As a true patient advocate, Dr. White believes the most important thing you can offer your patients is knowing you genuinely care about them. “I believe that every patient wants to know, first and foremost, that you have their best interests at heart, that you care about them and are their advocate,” he says.

Outside of work, you can find him traveling, hanging out with his family and dogs, experimenting in the kitchen, or getting his workout in at the gym.

We’re lucky to have such a dedicated, passionate leader on our team. Thanks for everything, Dr. White!

We loved seeing your votes for the Pink Your Pumpkin contest! 🎃 The winning department is Med-Surg (Howell Pavilion), who decorated their pumpkin in honor of their dear friend and former colleague, Kayla Thompson, a cherished HP family member currently facing an unexpected breast cancer diagnosis.

Nurse Brooke Houghton shares:
“Kayla has always been a vital part of our HP family—her strength, selflessness, and positivity continue to inspire us every day. As we come together to support her in this fight, we’re reminded of the incredible impact she’s had on all of us. We’re all looking forward to the day Kayla returns to HP, stronger than ever.”

Kayla shared her journey with us:
“It was here at Gifford that Jessica Shedd, APRN, and I discovered the lump in my right breast. Jessica immediately sent me for a stat mammogram and ultrasound. In June, I was diagnosed with invasive ductal carcinoma, stage 2B metastatic. It’s been a long road. My treatment is called TCHP—two immunotherapies and two chemotherapies. My message to the world is: do your monthly self-breast exams and get your yearly mammograms. Gifford might have saved my life.”

Please join us in sending love, strength, and support to Kayla and all those impacted by breast cancer. Together, we are stronger. 💪🎗️
