Mid-December we welcomed Baby Number245, he was the littlest man, but so awake and alert, eager to snuggle with his parents! Sometimes our body throws us curve balls that we’re not prepared for nor ever anticipated. Being a doula, I make it my priority to educate my clients so they have the information necessary to make an informed decision in the event they need to. I am so proud of this couple, they worked together to make decisions, they advocated for themselves when it was necessary, and they welcomed a beautiful baby into the world! When you have the right tools, knowledge and support, it makes all the difference in the world when birthing in a hospital setting that’s not always a system set up for individualized care.
(And to the OB that unprofessionally stormed out of the room when my client choose to not have you AROM & then again when she advocated to wait to push until she left the urge - you are the reason women are bullied in the hospital setting, you’re the reason why women struggle being dissatisfied with their birth experiences, you’re the reason why I keep fighting to educate and advocate for patients rights & informed consent) p.s. quit your job!
