WILLY & LULU BOYD

As you may or may not know, dad-Vaun Howard Boyd passed away September 16, 2023. He was the baby & the last living child of W***y & LuLu. I am making a book of stories about him, so if you would like to share (& I hope you do), be it 1 story or many. He had grocery stores in Sioux Falls, SD then at 60 he opened an antique barn in the Black Hills just outside of Custer. He is known world wide. Lulu’s parents built this house in Kimball, SD around 1902. They gave it to her brother Chester & her in the 1940’s. The story goes that W***y wasn’t going to move into this house because it wasn’t “his”. So Grandma Boyd said that’s fine but I’m moving into it. And so they both moved!! It’s the only house I ever knew as grandma’s house. I never knew grandpa as he had passed before I was born. The house & barns are all gone now.

This is Ethel Boyd. W***y & Lulu’s oldest daughter. Guessing this was in the late 1920’s. She lived from 1907-1980.

I’m in search of a lost grandpa!! I’m looking for Willian Archibald Boyd’s father!! Someone has John D as his father but I think this might be a brother! I’m looking at an Alexander Boyd but still working on that one!! If anyone has any idea, please let me know!!

Hi everyone!!! I've been wanting to do this page for awhile & thought today would be a great day for it!! It is LULU'S 135 BIRTHDAY today!! May 11, 1886! For those who may not know me- I am the baby of the baby! Vaun is my dad & the last living child of W***y & Lulu. He turned 90 last Nov. We enjoyed the day today by driving up to Newell, SD & finding his sister Ethel's gravesite. We looked for her house but wasn't sure where it was at. Beth commented on a picture of grandma & called her Toodle Lu! I've never heard her called that. I showed dad & he laughed & said they always called her that!! I would love to learn more of these types of things. I never got to meet grandpa or many of the aunts & uncles. I'm hoping to bring them alive for me & the younger generations. Mary Boyd has done a lot of our genealogy history & I've been working on it for about 10 years. I maybe asking for some help on things.
