We refer people to those we know, like, and trust. I market heavily to highly sensitive people and adults with a history of trauma for two main reasons. 1, they tend to respond very well to the approach that I use. And 2, most of the time I like these people.

With this being said, I can also run traditional adjustments if that is your preference and you respond well to them. The traditional adjustment is legitimate, just usually not the best approach for for the two specific groups that I market to most.

If you know, like, and trust me but need traditional adjustments, I can still help you. I only ask that you know about BGI as an option before the final decision and that you clearly communicate your decision to me. We call this informed consent.

If you have ever been on my table, what would you tell someone who is considering being a client but has not yet booked?

05/28/2026

When working with the nervous system, less is often more. I am grateful for this client from my previous practice for allowing me to record and share a portion of her adjustment. Watch for how her body responds with change in posture, breath, and tension.

I attended a talk today, hosted by WAVI on the faces of trauma. In my scope of practice, I work with trauma as a functional neurological injury that originated from a protective response. There are structural changes in the brain that are seen in people with a trauma history. There are also changes in activity levels in various regions of the brain.

So how do I work with trauma as a chiropractor? Your brain and body are reflections of each other. hypervigilance in the mid is reflected as defensive tension in the body. These defensive patterns signal a message to the brain, "we are in danger now".

There is good news. The nervous system adapts and changes based on experiences. Ironically, the same phenomenon that allows us to become traumatized is the same phenomenon that enables us to heal it. The phenomenon is called neuroplasticity.

My role as a chiropractor in treating trauma is to help reduce the defensive tensions, so you have more capacity to create the change you want to see. Recovering from trauma is perhaps the most difficult responsibilities a person can undertake. You deserve every opportunity to make it easier. If we are a good fit, I would be honored to serve you.

"All I need's a whisper in a world that only shouts"

If it feels familiar (and not just because you have heard the song too), you are probably one of the highly sensitive people I love to work with.

How well do you listen to your body's whispers? Or do you wait for it to shout?

Any bodywork that is intended to affect the nervous system can be very personal. It is important that you and your practitioner are a good fit. That is why I offer free 15 minute discovery calls. I am not just any chiropractor, and you deserve to be more than just any patient.

If we decide during the call that we are a good fit and I can help you, we'll get started as soon as you schedule your first visit and complete the initial paperwork. If we are not a good fit, that's fine too. We don't have to work together any more than you want to. All I ask is that you are honest with me and honest with yourself.

I really like my highly sensitive people. Are you one of them?

There is a questionnaire used in research in the field of psychology that screens for nervous system sensitivity. The more strongly you answer yes to the questions, the more likely you are part of my favorite minority (15-20% of the general population).

1. Do you notice when things have been moved around?

2. Are you easily affected by feedback (both negative and
positive)?

3. Are you easily overwhelmed by things like bright lights,
strong smells, coarse fabrics, or sirens close by?

4. Do you easily recognise what others are feeling?

5. Do you notice and enjoy delicate or fine scents, tastes,
sounds, works of art?

6. Are you easily affected by the mood of people around you?

7. Do you tend to reflect on things deeply?

8. Are you good at anticipating how someone may feel about
a situation?

9. Are you bothered by intense stimuli, like loud noises or
chaotic scenes?

10. Do you generally react strongly to your experiences,
whether you show it or not?

11. Do other people tell you that you are good at
understanding what they are feeling or thinking?

12. Do you tend to get deeply immersed in music?

13. Do you find yourself thinking about philosophical
questions?

14. Do you seem to notice changes in the weather more than
others do?

15. Do you become unpleasantly aroused when a lot is going
on around you?

16. Are you deeply moved by the arts or music?

17. Do you tend to notice subtle signs of changing seasons
(winter/ spring etc.)?

18. Do you like deep conversations?

I am building my Island of Misfit Toys. I consider my clients to be my people. I like them. If anything I am about to say sounds like "oh that's me", let's book a discovery call. I would love to meet you.

If you feel everything more than most people, you know family dysfunction as more than an academic concept, or have thoughts you can't share with others because they will never understand, welcome to my little island.

I work with highly sensitive people who want a more adaptable nervous system. Probably not the words you use to say it, though. You probably say things more like "why are the lights at walmart so irritating?" "why is that person talking so loudly in public?" "can everyone just shut it for 2 minutes" "Why do we have to wear shoes everywhere? I hate shoes" (for what it is worth the best adjustments I have ever had have always come from someone either barefoot or in fun socks; no shoes).
