Pennington County Drug Court

Pennington County Drug Court Drug Court is a judicially supervised treatment program aimed at increasing public safety, increasing offender accountability, and decreasing recidivism.

The Pennington County Drug Court is a post-adjudication treatment court for offenders who are substantially affected by drug and/or alcohol addiction. Drug Court is a voluntary program, and is abstinence-based and intensive in nature. Drug Court includes regular appearances before the Drug Court judge, frequent and random drug and alcohol testing, addiction counseling in individual and group settings, mental health counseling in individual and group settings, a system of behavior modification based on incentives and sanctions, assessment for participation in complementary treatment and social services, participation in community support groups and pro-social activities, employment or education programs, and intense community supervision by the Drug Court team. The Pennington County Drug Court requires participants to participate in community support groups and to be employed. The Pennington County Drug Court is a 5-phase intervention program. Drug Court is sobriety-based with specific goals and activities required in each phase. The program length differs for each participant, but is no less than 14 months.
