Rafael Ortiz Offers Free Clinic!!
Oklahoma City, Oklahoma/ Riversport Rapids, a man-made whitewater kayaking park in Oklahoma City, continues to draw international kayaking superstars to the dust bowl state. Rafa Ortiz, a guy known for tackling some of the gnarliest whitewater in kayaks, will be sharing his kayaking skills via a free clinic in Oklahoma City during the Labor Day weekend. Cosponsors Jackson Kayak and OKC Kayak will be covering the cost of instruction from this elite athlete and coach.
Best known for his enormous waterfall drops and his recent near-attempt at shooting Niagra Falls in a kayak. Ortiz has challenged some of the biggest waters in the world, including successfully launching his kayak off nearly 200 foot waterfalls. While patrons of the free clinic won't be challenging such death defying feats anytime soon, the classes will offer instruction from an international kayaking phenom, with something for the raw beginner to more advanced paddlers as well.
There is no charge to attend the clinics being held Saturday, September 2, and Sunday, September 3. Registration is required. Call event co-sponsor, OKC Kayak-Paddlesport Superstore to register and obtain a course schedule. Participants will be responsible for paying the Riversport Rapids admission fee of $30 on the day of the clinics. There is no charge for spectators to come watch all the big water action. This is an all ages event.
Those that wish to meet and greet Rafa Ortiz are encourage to visit the park as well as attend a community block party at OKC Kayak, 220 N. Western Avenue, on the evening of September 2, at 7 p.m..
