🍼 Storing breast milk safely can feel overwhelming, especially with so much info online. But we’ve got you covered!

Here’s a simple guide from the American Academy of Pediatrics to help you know how long fresh breast milk should be stored depending on where it’s kept -whether it’s on the counter, in the fridge, or the freezer.

📌 Quick takeaways:
✔️ Room temp (up to 77°F): Use within 4 hours
✔️ Fridge (≤ 39°F): Up to 4 days
✔️ Freezer (0°F): Up to 9 months
✔️ Deep freezer (−4°F): Up to 12 months

💡 Always label your milk with the date and use the oldest milk first. And don’t forget -once baby drinks from that bottle, that milk should be used within 2 hours.

🤱 If you have questions about pumping, storing, or feeding breast milk, our team is always here to help. You’re doing amazing 💛

💊 What is Leucovorin, and why is it sometimes discussed in relation to autism?
You may have seen posts or articles online talking about this medication—here’s what we want parents to know:

🔸 Leucovorin is a prescription medication most commonly used to help reduce side effects from chemotherapy. It’s made of folate (folic acid).
🔸 Some early research suggests it may help improve communication skills in a small subset of autistic children—but more studies are needed to fully understand this link.
🔸 This is not a proven treatment for autism, and it’s not recommended for every child.

💛 What all children need-especially those with autism-is support, acceptance, and love as they grow and learn in their own way.

👩‍⚕️ As always, if you have questions about autism or any potential treatments please call or schedule an appointment with one of our trusted providers. We’re here to help guide you with care and evidence-based information 💬

Acetaminophen: Safe When Used Properly ✅
We know it can feel overwhelming sorting through so much information online- especially when it comes to your child’s health. That’s why we want to help clear things up.

Acetaminophen (Tylenol) has been safely used for decades to reduce pain and fever in children. When given at the correct dose, it’s a trusted and effective medication recommended by pediatricians—including us here at Somerset Pediatric Group.

➡️ There is no causal link between acetaminophen and autism.
➡️ Always dose based on your child’s weight and age.
➡️ Do not exceed more than 4 doses in 24 hours.

If you ever have questions or need help understanding how or when to give medication, please reach out—we are here for you. Your child’s safety is our priority, and we’re proud to be your trusted partners in health.
