Important Information for Patients Using GLP-1 Medications

If you’ve been prescribed a GLP-1 medication like Wegovy, there are a few important steps required by your insurance to keep your prescription covered.

✔ You must download the Health Optimizer App
✔ You must complete all required information in the app and schedule monthly check-ins and weigh-ins with the nutritionist/provider
✔ This process is managed through your insurance and is 100% your responsibility to complete
✔ Be sure to follow all recommendations to maintain your coverage

If your medication is showing a high cost at the pharmacy ($400–$600), please double-check that all app requirements have been completed.

If you experience side effects or feel the medication isn’t working, notify your nutritionist or telehealth provider. We may be able to request a different medication, but approval is not guaranteed.

If your insurance does not cover certain medications, there may be alternative options through manufacturers or other programs.

📞 For questions about co-pays, deductibles, or app requirements, please contact your insurance directly.

☢️🚑 Emergency Preparedness Training in Action

Today, Miners Colfax Medical Center partnered with the New Mexico Department of Health, Raton Fire, and EMS to conduct a hands-on emergency preparedness training focused on radiation contamination scenarios.

Staff participated in a full simulation of patients arriving to the Emergency Department, with actors serving as simulated patients to create a realistic training environment. Teams practiced proper PPE use, response protocols, and coordinated care in a real-life scenario setting.

Trainings like these ensure our teams are ready to respond quickly, safely, and effectively. Protecting both our patients and our community.

☢️🛡️ Emergency Preparedness Training at MCMC

Miners Colfax Medical Center recently hosted Tim Yackey from the New Mexico Department of Health for a hands-on training focused on radiation contamination response.

Staff participated in donning and doffing PPE, practiced using a Geiger counter, and worked through real-life scenarios to ensure we are prepared to protect both our patients and our team.

Ongoing training like this strengthens our readiness and reinforces our commitment to safety in any situation.

Thank you to Tim Yackey and the NM Department of Health for partnering with us to keep our staff and community safe.

Miners’ Colfax Medical Center wants to assure our community that we are fully prepared for the planned citywide power outage scheduled by the City of Raton beginning Thursday, March 12 at 6:00 PM and expected to last until Friday, March 13 at 6:00 AM.

Our hospital has a dedicated emergency backup generator capable of powering critical hospital operations for more than seven days on our current fuel supply. This means we will continue to provide essential emergency and patient care services throughout the outage.

Our leadership and clinical teams have been planning for this event and have activated additional preparedness measures to ensure patient safety and continuity of care. These steps include coordinating with local EMS, city, and county partners, establishing an incident command structure during the outage, and preparing backup documentation processes if needed.

While some services may operate at a reduced capacity during the outage, Miners’ Colfax Medical Center will remain open and ready to care for our community.

We appreciate the community’s understanding as the city completes this important infrastructure work.
