My last day at the Funeral Home will be Monday, October 24, 2022. I can’t thank everyone enough for letting my family help all of your families. We have helped over 1000 families in the 17 years of owning the funeral home. We will still be in Ravenna just not working so hard. Lol. I am going to miss helping everyone but will still be around. I will do my best to be in the office all day on Monday if you have any questions or need something.

Michael Lee Jibson age 79 of Ravenna passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, October 2, 2022 surrounded by his wife and daughters. Michael was born on January 22, 1943 in Muskegon, the son of Charles and Martha (Wiegand) Jibson and graduated from Ravenna High School with the class of 1961. He served his country during the Vietnam Conflict with the United States Army as a member of the Signal Corp. On September 30, 1965, he married Rebecca Warren and they just celebrated 57 blessed years together.

Michael was an employee of CWC Textron in Muskegon, retiring after 30 years of service in 1993. In his retirement, he worked for Meijer at the North Muskegon location for 9 years. Michael was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Martha; and his siblings Charlotte Stone, Pete Jibson, Frank Jibson, and Gladys Rollenhagen.

Along with his wife Rebecca, Michael will be greatly missed by his daughters Brenda Lee (Daniel) Frein, and Kathy Lynn (Darin) Merchant all of Muskegon; his grandchildren Jacob Frein, Amanda Frein, Kayla Marie Merchant (Fiancé Jordon Truxton) all of Muskegon, and Madison Lee (Troy) Marciniak of Fountain; his great-grandchildren Ethan Sawyer Frein and newborn Robert Michael Truxton; along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral services including Military Honors will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, October 5 at the Throop Funeral Home in Ravenna with his son-in-law Daniel Frein officiating. Burial will take place at Moorland Township Cemetery. Friends may meet with his family prior to the service from 12:00 noon – 1:00 pm at the funeral home. Those who wish to remember Michael with a memorial donation are asked to please consider Spectrum Health Hospice and Palliative Care.

Tracy and Myself would like to announce that we have SOLD the funeral home. It will be a few weeks before the new owners take over but wanted to let everyone know of the sale. We have loved every second of being the owners of the funeral home for the last 17 years. I will miss all of my interactions with the families we served over the last 17 years. Approx 1000 families we have served since December of 2005. As most know we have built a home in Ravenna and will still be a part of the community. Because of my health it was in my best interest to step back and let someone else take over. I will miss everyone but will still be around if needed for the new owners. Thank you all for everything and we will still be around.
