TODAY'S PLANTS OF THE DAY: STRAWBERRY AND PINEAPPLE MINT.
Pineapple mint is actually a variegated form of apple mint, not a pineapple plant.
* Its leaves have beautiful cream-and-green coloring, making it popular in ornamental herb gardens.
* When crushed, the leaves give off a sweet tropical scent similar to pineapple mixed with mint.
* It attracts pollinators like bees and butterflies when it blooms.
* Pineapple mint is often used in:
* teas
* fruit salads
* mojitos
* desserts
* infused water
* It’s considered a vigorous spreader, so many gardeners grow it in containers to keep it under control.
* Historically, mint varieties were used in ancient Greece and Rome to freshen rooms and flavor drinks.
* Strawberry mint has a sweet fruity aroma with hints of strawberry candy.
* The leaves are usually smaller and softer than many common mint varieties.
* It’s especially popular for:

Now that Mother's Day is over and hopefully the cold weather is over it's time to focus on plants for planters and beds. We have been busy this week organizing, spacing, and re planting.
