We were thrilled to be a part of this training. Thank you to all those who attended, we appreciate all you do for our community!
Rock Springs Police Department, Sweetwater Prevention Coalition and Southwest Counseling hosted a 40 hour training this week called, Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) training. It was attended by 33 peace officers, dispatchers and detention officers. Attendees were from Uinta County SO, Evanston PD, SW County SO, GRPD, SW Combined Communications Center and the RSPD. CIT is a community-based program that brings law enforcement, mental health professionals, mental health advocates (people living mental illness and their families) and other partners together to improve community response to mental health crises. The course follows the best practice guidelines from the National Alliance on Mental Illness or NAMI.
Special thanks to the Sweetwater Prevention Coalition CIT Team consisting of Laura Schmid-Pizzato, Bonnie Collins and Shelby Gordon; Crystal Hamblin of the Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County and Officer Clint Baker, Sergeant Clay Jarvie and Chief Dwane Pacheco.
