There are ways to help slow myopia progression in children — and the earlier these habits start, the more helpful they can be.

Here are a few evidence-based steps:
🌤️ Encouraging more outdoor time
📱 Taking regular breaks from screens and close-up work
👓 Keeping up with eye exams to monitor changes

These small habits can make a meaningful difference as kids grow.

Your eyes do more than help you see — they can also tell us a lot about your overall eye health. 👁️

During a comprehensive eye exam, we’re not just checking your prescription. We’re looking for early signs of conditions like glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic eye changes, and other issues that often don’t cause symptoms right away.

That’s why routine eye exams matter — even if your vision feels “just fine.”

👓 Staying on top of your eye health today can help protect your vision for the long run.

Glaucoma doesn’t usually announce itself. 👁️

Often called the “silent thief of sight,” glaucoma can cause vision loss slowly — and without noticeable symptoms early on. Many people don’t realize there’s a problem until permanent damage has already occurred.

That’s why regular comprehensive eye exams are so important, especially as we get older or if there’s a family history.

Early detection helps protect long-term vision. 💙

Why does early action matter when it comes to myopia?

Myopia often progresses the fastest during childhood. The younger it begins, the more it can change as kids grow — which can impact long-term eye health and how clearly they see the world around them.

Regular eye exams and early monitoring can make a meaningful difference in managing that progression.

This is Post 3 in our Myopia Awareness Series, helping parents understand why timing matters when it comes to children’s vision.

Sunglasses aren’t just for summer. ❄️

Winter glare from low sun angles and reflective surfaces can strain your eyes — especially while driving. Polarized lenses help cut glare and keep your vision comfortable year-round.

January is Glaucoma Awareness Month. 👁️

Did you know about 1 in 40 people over age 40 has glaucoma — and many don’t know it?

Glaucoma often has no early symptoms, which is why it’s sometimes called the “silent thief of sight.” Vision loss from glaucoma is permanent, but early detection can help slow progression.

Awareness is the first step toward protecting long-term vision.

Why are more children becoming nearsighted today?

Research points to a combination of modern lifestyle factors:
📱 More screen time and close-up activities
🏠 Less time spent outdoors
👨‍👩‍👦 Family history and genetics

When myopia begins earlier in childhood, it often progresses more quickly — which is why understanding the causes matters.

This is Post 2 in our Myopia Awareness Series, helping parents learn what’s driving the rise in childhood myopia.

Cold weather, indoor heat, and extra screen time can make dry eye symptoms more noticeable in winter. ❄️

If your eyes feel dry, irritated, or tired this time of year, a few small changes can help:
• Take regular blink breaks
• Stay hydrated
• Use a humidifier indoors
• Consider warm compresses for comfort

And if dryness becomes persistent, we’re here to help you find relief.

What is myopia?
It’s the medical term for nearsightedness — when objects up close look clear, but things far away (like the TV, whiteboard, or street signs) look blurry.

Myopia is becoming more common in children, and understanding how it works is the first step in protecting long-term vision.

This is Post 1 in our Myopia Awareness Series, helping parents learn what it is, why it happens, and what can be done to help.
