What a great opportunity organized and hosted by the Bryn and Harrison Thompson Memorial Foundation!

This is a one day home run derby for children with special needs. Each child will have a
buddy to help them so you as the parent can watch and take all the pictures!

If you have any questions how your child’s needs may impact his or her involvement, please ask us! We would love to see our kids out there learning and participating in something new and for a great cause!

It’s completely free for the child to participate. Sign up by May 15th!!!!

We held a book drive during our week of celebrating Dr. Seuss. With the help of our families, we gathered enough books to take to three different elementary schools! We have already made drop-offs at Rayville Elementary and Holly Ridge ❤️❤️. Thank you!!!

April is Occupational Therapy Month, a time to celebrate the role OT plays in helping children succeed.

Pediatric Occupational Therapy focuses on helping children develop skills for everyday activities such as:

*Fine Motor Skills (grasping, coloring, handwriting)
*Sensory Processing and Regulation
*Self-Care Skills Like Dressing and Feeding
*Coordination and Motor Planning for Everyday Tasks
*Attention and participation in Play and School Tasks

🍀 St. Patrick’s Day Fun in OT! 🍀

Our little leprechauns had so much fun during yesterday’s therapy session! We celebrated with a St. Patrick’s Day themed craft using Fruit Loops, pipe cleaners, and marshmallows to create a festive treat.

While it looked like just a fun activity, our kiddos were actually working on so many important skills including:
✨ Fine motor coordination
✨ Pincer grasp
✨ Bilateral hand use
✨ Hand-eye coordination
✨ Following directions
✨ Attention to task
✨ Food aversion tolerance through playful exposure to different food textures

By threading the cereal onto the pipe cleaner and completing the craft step-by-step, our patients practiced important developmental skills while also becoming more comfortable interacting with different food items in a fun, low-pressure way. Activities like this can help children who experience food aversions gradually tolerate touching, holding, and exploring new foods.

Learning through play is one of the best parts of pediatric therapy! 💚🌈

Late post! A few weeks ago, we celebrated Dr. Seuss’ birthday and Read Across America week. Wear green, wear silly socks, wacky Wednesday, wear red and blue, and pajama day provided a fun therapy environment!
