PURPOSE OF YOUR POSITION
The ideal candidate will be providing health care services with direction and supervision of a qualified and licensed physician. This includes performing diagnostic, therapeutic, preventive and health maintenance services in any setting in which the physician renders care, in order to allow more effective and focused application of the physician's particular knowledge and skills.
GENERAL INFORMATION
• Follows established protocol and collaborates with physicians.
• Contributes as a lead care provider among staff and physician extenders, such as medical assistants and nurses.
• Understands the ethics of confidentiality, possess good organizational skills and the ability to communicate well with all people.
• Provide emergency treatment on-site and respond appropriately in urgent or emergency situations.
• Can effectively act as a liaison between patients and physicians.
• Prescribe a planned regimen of total patient care, which is adequate, problem oriented and appropriate to the needs of the patient.
• Keep patient information confidential and respect patient's rights to privacy in accordance with accepted confidentiality practices for incarcerated individuals.
• Must be able to apply principles of critical thinking to a variety of practical and emergent situations and accurately follow standardized procedures that may call for deviations.
• Must be able to apply sound judgment beyond a specific set of instructions and apply knowledge to different factual situations.
• Must be alert at all times; pay close attention to details.
• Must be able to work under stress on a regular or continuous basis.
• Post orders, if applicable, per site contract.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
• Good manual dexterity and motor coordination to operate a variety of office equipment.
• Physical demands are light involving walking and sitting throughout the day.
• Must be able to read, write and speak English to communicate effectively.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
• Works in well lighted and ventilated area.
• Subject to infectious diseases.
• Subject to injury from confused, combative patients, families and visitors.
• Subject to frequent interruptions.
• Universal precautions may apply.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Two-year degree in an appropriate area of study (as recognized by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.)
• Must have State Physician’s Assistant Certification, accomplished through completion of Board approved apprenticeship and evaluation or graduation from Board approved P.A. program.
• Satisfactory completion of exam (given by National Commission of Certification of Physician's Assistants) or must have completed necessary requirements to take test and be planning to do so.
• Pennsylvania state police criminal record check, child abuse clearance and a FBI criminal history check required.
• Must be CPR certified.
EDUCATION:
• Successful completion of studies for PA or ARNP from an accredited College or University
EXPERIENCE:
• Prefer a minimum of one (1) year clinic experience
LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS
• Must have and maintain current licensure as an ARNP or PA within the state
• Ensure progress note documentation is in SOAP format; is problem oriented; corresponds to the therapeutic order; and is dated, timed, and legible.
• Adhere to the established formulary for therapeutic regimens before using nonformulary procedure.
• Respond to a code or health emergency within standard guidelines.
• Use Universal or Standard
Precautions at all times.
