- It was a busy week of traditions, milestones, anniversaries, and remembrance, as we marked another passing of World AIDS Days raising a glass to those we’ve lost, —and marking our 40th year of service as an organization.

Our deputy director Barbara Waller and director/CFO Carolyn Bazik wear many hats. From running a full time staff of a non-profit and an initiative, to seeing through the mission to provide free s*xual healthcare services to anyone who needs them… it is no small task.

They do it tirelessly and without complaint, without fanfare, and lots of noise. They do it because they believe in the work.

We’ve made it 40 years in this community because of so many people that have come before and those who saw a need and wanted to help. But we’ve also made it because of who has lead our path the last few decades.

Thank you to Carolyn and Barbara for their service and dedication to CCWS.

- We held our annual World AIDS Day “Raise A Glass in Remembrance” event this week at The Inn at Centre Park.

In this our 40th year of service, we also received a citation of recognition from Senator Judy Schwank. With remarks from Berks County Community Foundation President Kevin Murphy, and many board members, community partners and supporters, the evening marked a special milestone for CCWS.

Thank you to all those who attended thus event and to the many have supported us along the way. We’re hopeful we’ll be able to continue to do the work we feel called to do in our community.

- As a non-profit, we are reliant on the generosity and gifts of others. In turn, all of our of services are free and available to anyone. We serve the underserved and the marginalized populations of our community.

Like so many non-profits and organizations in public health, we have lost some of our funding. We are cutting corners where ever we can, so that we can continue to serve those in need. To be blunt, it is a scary time.

We provide services to people who cannot afford to pay for them. We do this because we believe everyone deserves access to s*xual healthcare and education.

Your gift will help us continue to do this work. ❤️

- Thank you, Mayor Eddie Moran
“In recognition of World AIDS Day, Mayor Eddie Morán announced that Reading City Hall will be illuminated red on Monday, December 1st, as a public show of solidarity, remembrance, and continued support for those affected by HIV/AIDS.

This year's observance also marks a significant milestone for a key community partner: Co-County Wellness Services is celebrating 40 years of service to Berks and Schuylkill Counties.

For four decades, the organization has provided essential education, prevention, testing, and compassionate care for individuals and families impacted by HIV/AIDS.”

- 🕯️❤️ This annual Day of Remembrance and Reflection is so important—to honor those we’ve lost to AIDS/HIV and to continue the work to find a cure.

This year makes of 40th year as an AIDS/HIV service organization, serving our community. Tonight we will once again raise a glass and pay our respects, and hope for our work to continue on.

Serving Our Community

Co-County Wellness Services (CCWS) is a non-profit, 501(c)(3), community based organization serving Berks and Schuylkill Counties.

We began as an AIDS Service Organization in 1985. Our services have evolved to address other s*xually transmitted diseases (STDs) and adolescent s*xual health. Our current service continuum includes: prevention (STDs, HIV, Teen Pregnancy); screening and treatment (STDs); counseling and testing (HIV); and care (HIV case management and treatment adherence counseling).

All of our services are free and confidential without discrimination in regard to age, ancestry, citizenship, ethnicity, gender identity, gender expression, marital status, medical condition, disability, race, religion, s*x, or s*xual orientation.

CCWS is the only comprehensive HIV/STD service organization in Berks and Schuylkill counties. Through our prevention, screening/testing, and care services we reach more than 9,000 people a year.
