Makar Sankranti or Lohri celebrates the end of winter and beginning of spring in India, it is to be a time for peace and prosperity.
A time to let go of old grudges and live in harmony with everyone around you.
Today is regarded as important for spiritual practices and many take a holy dip in the river Ganga, Yamuna, Godavari, Krishna, Cauvery or others.
The bathing is believed to wash away sins. 😇
The festival is also traditionally associated with the harvest of the rabi crops.
And the day after Lohni is viewed as a financial New Year for Punjabi farmers in India.
Lohri is essentially a festival dedicated to fire and the sun ☀️
