The breeding/foaling season is coming to an end. It’s been a very successful season , 50 new foals, and many pregnancies which insures a busy 2026 foaling season.
As I wrap things up I take this opportunity to remind you that I will again work the Colonial Downs race meet as a regulatory veterinarian. I leave on July 7 th and the meet runs 7/8- 9/14. I’ll be home most most Mondays and Tuesdays. Please reach out if you need anything!

The first week of racing at Colonial Downs is done. Heavy rain resulted in races being cancelled on Friday and all but the stakes being run on the dirt on Saturday. Nonetheless we made it thru. I am looking forward to racing again Thursday, Friday and Saturday next week.
I’ll be home today and can see clients all day Monday and Tuesday morning let me know what you need!

It’s been a good breeding / foaling season. I welcomed over 50 foals in 2024! The breeding has been going well , even the sport horse mares being bred with frozen semen have started to cooperate!
I am a new grandma! Logan Stephens and Peter Bolte had a beautiful baby girl on 4/11/2024. I am going to visit , love , hug and meet Rooney 6/16-6/19.
As usual I will be working the Colonial Downs race meet July 9 th through September 11 th . Race days are Thursday, Friday and Saturdays . I’ll be home some on non race days.
I encourage you to get your 2024 foals vaccinated for Lyme starting at 3 months of age.
Please reach out if your mares / foals need anything prior to July 9/ 2024 .

The ticks are here in full force. Please get your 2024 foals vaccinated at 3 months followed by a booster in 3-4 weeks. Maternal antibodies will protect the foal for the first 3 months. I typically give a 3rd lyme when babies get their core vaccinations at 6 months. I recommend twice yearly vaccinations for Lyme early spring and fall prior to tick season.

Paige Cade was over the moon happy with the arrival of Dahlia an embryo transfer filly !! The filly is the result of Paige’s mare Leena and Chaco Blue II. This is the first installment as the breeding resulted in the successful transfer of 2 embryos. Watch this space for the arrival of foal # 2 !
