At Create my Weight, we support our clients on their Health and Weight Loss journey. We follow an anti-diet approach that is sustainable and stress-free, with our 4-step strategy to Food Freedom:

1) Nutrition: learn how to balance, not count, macronutrients (fats, carbs, protein, and alcohol) for weight loss, maintenance, and health. Learn how to eat the foods you love and balance them with more healthy foods. No more giving up the foods you love or spending hours in the kitchen!

2) Fitness: At CMW, we help you create a custom, sustainable fitness routine that you enjoy and can stick to long-term. You'll be sure it's well-balanced and designed for RESULTS. This 56-year old NY-based artist came to me wanting to lose 30 lbs.

I was born & raised in NJ, and I truly believe this is why Food Freedom is SO important to me!

Who else can relate?! đŸ™ŒđŸ»

I can’t imagine life without pizza, bagels, boardwalk fries, or diners.

In addition to being a Jersey girl, I’m Italian and Puerto Rican 🇼đŸ‡čđŸ‡”đŸ‡·

This means that wine, bread, rice, beans, meat, and all the desserts are in my blood đŸ©ž

My favorite dessert is a cannoli; Scott actually got me a cannoli- making kit for Christmas this year 😆

So when people come to me and say they don’t want to be on a strict diet, they’re preaching to the choir.

They also tell me they want flexible & simple nutrition because their lives are crazy busy.

I hear you— I’ve never met a non-crazy-busy Jersey girl.

But, I also know how badly you want to shed pounds, tone up, and put on that dress without feeling like a stuffed sausage.

I’ve been there, too.

34% of Americans identify themselves as emotional eaters, and many others don’t even realize they are one.

I knew I was one by age 13.

I used to sneak cookie dough, icing, and gummy bears in between meals without my mom catching me. This habit continued into college, except I hid it from my roommates.

The funny thing is that I would count calories & mainly eat protein & veggies, so everyone thought I was a healthy eater.

I exercised 6–7 days a week, so everyone thought I was super healthy.

But they didn’t know that food was how I calmed my nerves.

When I moved in with my boyfriend at age 27, he caught me in the act.

He called me “The Gremlin” because I’d wake up and eat in the middle of the night.

He also called me The Cookie Monster.

These names made me realize that I had to do something about my eating habits.

I couldn’t out-train a bad diet.

And some of you reading this can relate, but many of you probably think, “that’s not me.”

But here’s what I see in you:

👉You probably overeat other foods or drinks & struggle to control it– alcohol, chips, and other highly addictive foods

👉 You know you need to work out consistently or at least increase your daily movement, but find all the reasons not to do it.

👉You eat healthy for a few days, then fall off the wagon when the weekend comes.

All of these struggles stem from your emotions & your relationship with food & exercise.

Until you change your relationship with food & exercise, you will not lose weight, build muscle, or create any sort of discipline & consistency in your life.

No meal plan, fitness app, medication, or podcast will help you.

You need to start changing from WITHIN.

The New Year starts tomorrow, and nearly 70% of Americans will start a new diet🙃 If you’re one of these people, make sure it’s NOT one of these:

đŸ„©The Carnivore Diet— this diet severely lacks fiber, a critical micronutrient for your gut health & digestion. Plus, it’s actually a LOT more restrictive than you realize. A life without veggies OR pizza? No thanks.

🧀The Keto Diet– while a bit more flexible than the Carnivore diet, this diet will also devoid your body of a very important macronutrient– carbohydrates– which is crucial for metabolic health & cognitive function. Plus, muscles need carbohydrates to grow.

đŸ„—The Whole 30 — I’ll admit, there’s a lot that I LIKE about Whole 30 protocol— healthier foods & cutting out lots of processed & inflammatory foods. However, after following this for 30 days, you’re bound to revert to old foods & regain some, if not all, of the weight back. And if you try to do the Whole 30 again, good luck— it doesn’t work as well the 2nd or 3rd time around.

đŸȘThe Cookie Diet– yes, this is an actual diet. As much as I LOVE cookies, I wouldn’t rely on cookies for all of our nutrition. It severely lacks protein, fiber, essential vitamins, and has WAY too much sugar.

đŸ€ȘThe Seefood Diet– if you see food, you EAT IT! You’ve probably been on this diet for the last few weeks (or months), so I recommend changing it up in 2026. Overconsumption of food (and high fat, sugar, and low-quality carbohydrates) will lead to diabetes, obesity, high blood pressure, CAD, Alzheimer’s, and a long list of preventable conditions.

So what diet DO I recommend?!

None of the mainstream diets.

I recommend eating in a way that supports your health & weight loss goals while still eating foods you enjoy.

This is NOT a cookie cutter, one-size-fits-all diet.

I call this way of eating Food Freedom.

Recently on my Self-Invested Woman podcast, I sat down with CMW alumni from Chicago, IL, who did my 1:1 program back in 2022 and recently reconnected with me for 12 weeks of 1:1 support so she could go into her 55th birthday feeling FIT & confident!

When Darlene & I first met, she was SO stressed from work. She suffered from heart palpitations on a regular basis.

1.5 years ago, she decided to take a sabbatical and in that time published 3 books & worked on HERSELF. And in 2026, she’s launching an entirely new business & publishing her 4th book!

Not everyone can take nearly 2 years off work, but what Darlene shared in this podcast can help us redefine what success is and how to build the confidence to choose a new path.

I help people lose weight and keep it off through small, gradual changes in their diet and lifestyle. We do this in a 1:1 and group coaching style.

After starting my career in the health industry as a personal trainer and group exercise instructor, I succeeded in making exercise fun and helping clients integrate exercise into their weekly schedules to lose weight, build muscle, increase energy, and improve quality of life. However, what I learned over the years is how many people overlook the single most important part of changing our bodies-- nutrition.

I worked out with the same people-- private clients and class members--for years, and although they enjoyed working out and saw changes in their bodies, they still weren't 100% happy with themselves. Thousands of hours and dollars spent on personal training, gym memberships, and diet programs hadn't delivered their desired results. They admitted that exercising wasn't the issue; the problem was sticking to a diet consistently that aligned with their lifestyles.

I got lots of questions, and I still do today, about all of the diets out there. "Does Keto work?", "have you tried the Whole 30?", and, "should I start tracking my macros?" While these have helped many people lose weight, only a small percentage keep it off and end up looking for the next solution. The truth is that I have tried these in the past, had success, and then gained the weight back when, inevitably, I stopped following the "rules". I am 50% Italian, 50% Puerto Rican, and 100% female, so I cannot live happily without espresso, wine, chocolate, bread, and having a say in what and when I eat, thank you very much.
