Prevention Specialist - Carbon County

The Mental Health Center is hiring for a Prevention Specialist covering Carbon County.
Duties include implementing environmental and evidence-based prevention strategies within the community, developing, or participating in community coalitions to address and evaluate the prevention needs, resources and capacity to decrease risk factors and increase protective factors in the areas of youth substance use and initiation, and adult binge drinking. The successful applicant will be tasked with educating community members, stakeholders and coalition members in prevention strategies and program implementation, and require partnering with other local coalitions and organizations, law enforcement and government officials.

Prefer Bachelor’s degree in Human Services or related field, or comparable experience; knowledge of or experience in community prevention; knowledge of prevention strategies; implementation strategies and resources; coalition building and community relations. Requires the ability to effectively communicate, good organization skills and ability to work independently. Knowledge and experience in using basic computer programs necessary.
