FD Glam and Braid Bar is getting closer to its move!

My family & I are still unpacking boxes, but tomorrow we begin the next step of the process to give Tiana & I more time at home while continuing to care for our clients … aka extended famaree.

For the next few weeks we will book appointments Weds-Sat (1-2 Sundays per month), we may have to do a mobile service or two. Our hope is we will accommodate everyone, with as few schedule changes as possible.

We will have 400sq ft & will make it a space everyone will love. 💕 The new spot is less than a mile away from our current spot and we are so excited to share it with you!

We’ve been teasing for a few weeks so many changes including our rebrand to the Fruitful Designs moniker…

We love doing color & having our big transformations so we will bring back our OG model calls!

Our beauties know how important the influence from our days in Samoa is infused into every ounce of our Fruitful Designs community. To honor that & continue growing to meet the amazing referrals we get from our tribe we are focusing on our niches.

💕 Quarterly we will have our Glow Up Gang looks! There will only be 10 slots & we will pick the looks based off what’s trending OR from fave throwback looks

💕Healthy Hair & Scalp time! We are MAJORLY focusing on simple ways to grow your mane. If I gotta deal with crazy thick hair, I want all my beauties to have the same. 😘
💕 We are taking our love for natural holistic care and our love for simple changes and treatments to get the ick off! Basically, we are making sure our sweets are getting regular scalp/hair detoxing to keep the buildup of heavy metals, chlorine, wax and daily toxins to prevent damage from breaking off the length & density we love so much.

💕We will have our Japanese hair spa before school starts back up PLUS retail for home use.

Yesterday, something happened and a dear colleague showed so much integrity and honesty it inspired me while giving me the opportunity to be brutally honest with myself.

I want to share a small portion of the experience and hope to educate while adding this to the toolbox of experience I’ve gained over the last 20+ years.

There are a few ways FD Glam and Braid Bar aka Fruitful Designs Salon is different from other salons. I am very proud of these differences and hope you are too!

1. Our techniques and methods are not the norm. By this, I mean we focus on the integrity of your curls or waves, making sure your hair is healthy and we listen to what the hair is saying. If you have years of color layers (even semi & Demi color) the hair will only let us do so much. When you go from Dark to Light we MUST do it slowly and give your hair time to rest, even if the client doesn’t want warmth. I’m not a microwave type stylist. I’m more of a clean slate, make it from scratch and infuse so much love kine.

2. Using a bonnet & a charcoal shower filter changes lives! These 2 crazy simple steps with enhance your hair in unbelievable ways!

3. Ellis county water sucks!!!! Look, I’ve seen the metallic buildup in pipes and if it’s like that for commercial properties imagine what crud is in residential pipes. The solution is simple! A charcoal filter shower head and coming in 2-3x a year for a hair & scalp detox. The amount of metallic I smell and buildup that comes off is insane! BTW, your hair is in such amazing condition after that will change the brassy your hair turns too weeks after your service.

4. Quarterly Trims will change your dang life! Want long & HEALTHY hair? Come in for a trim 3-4 times a year. I am NOT the stylist who will take more than you want, but I AM the stylist who will give you the education and science behind the WHY.

6. I do highlights, but I’m not a blonde specialist. I do extensions, but only techniques I have researched and I’m not an extensions specialist.

7. Some people thing I’m expensive, others think I don’t charge enough. To be honest, it truly depends on how much labor is in my services and the art of hair is ever evolving. I spend about 2k-3k annually on education. I have taken time away from the chair in my 2 decades of experience and I don’t do this for the money. I do it to see the pure joy in a clients face when they see how amazing 🤩 others see them.

8. I know I’m perfectly imperfect, I have too many kids, I have way too many health issues from a medical injury, I thrive with cPTSD, major anxiety and depression problems. If you have the same perfectly imperfect take me as I am crazy sports mom who wants to do everything Possible to support their family & are comfy around other people who are struggling with the same things then come sit in my chair! Let’s get to know one another & ride this crazy life journey together!

Lately I’ve been crickets 🦗 when it comes to socials & all our know that means big changes are taking place. So for everyone that’s seen me past the point of exhaustion, the late nights, the constant schedule changes & just trying to have some normalcy with a bit of down time sprinkled in while reminding me to not push so hard, know that season is ending. 😍😘🥰

I have waited until we found the best new home for our family, but more importantly the future of Fruitful Designs Salon & Spa. So here are a few big changes as we move into a new era.

1. We are moving our salon home, to the new house! How? We will convert the garage into a TDLR approved home salon.

2. We are still excited & love all things color, but a few new niche focuses will pivot our brand a bit. We will focus on scalp care with a Japanese Head Spa, on hair retention and rejuvenation (including reversing hair loss and increasing hair growth). We are big into curly hair and all that goes with it!

3. We LOVE braids, special occasions and events! You’ll see a shift in branding & our niche focuses.

4. We need a second licensed stylist who is passionate about having a servants heart and happily serves our customers and community.

5. We need a badass salon coordinator! I have a few names & will reach out this week. The person we are looking for MUST be okay with the sensory-friendly service offerings, have a growth mindset, willing to put in sweat equity and wants to grow with us. Social content and heavy organic marketing is a must! Also, someone who is an intraprenuer, can show up to work, can assist at events plus sales calls, and a person who see the huge value in commissions opportunities.

6. We are focused on providing amazing services and offer value with our all inclusive packages. The continuing education and training programs Tiana & I with our colleagues provide speaks for themselves. Being an award winning stylist plus all the love we pour into our families ensures unmatched support. It’s literally a privilege and honor to be a part of your lives.

7. We are launching a major rebrand to align with our new location & niches. Soon we will be…. FD Glam & Braid Bar!
